Andwer the Dexateens.

How would the Damend have sounded if they had come from Tuscalooosa, Alabama, well this album might just give you a clue. Blending the concerns and accent of the best "Southern" rock with a ear grabbing, punky guitar attack the Dextaeens profer a sound that in a fairer world would be producing a fanbase as big as AC/DCs. The Dexateens have great songwriting added to a tight, unpretentious musical style which references London in 1976 as well as Jacksonville, Florida, in 1975. The vocals err on the right side of whiney and the guitars crunch to perfection.

The band is now without a recod label but check out the free download at http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=16390798&blogID=363112243 for their latest. Just remember to purchase this great CD.

The real stuff! 7 Nov 2007

Highly recommended! With repeated listenings this album really grew on me. Powerful guitar attack with a solid rhythm section. The sound is no frills and clear. Patterson Hood did a great job producing them. The producer of Magic should study this. These guys are great and I have listened to the album over twenty times so far.

FINALLY a band that ROCKS!!! 4 April 2007
By John Thibodeau - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I accidentally came across this album yesterday. I was blown away by how good it was. I've been trying to find a new band for a while that could fill the void created by all the emo bands. Most new bands I've tried out, had one or two goods songs, but never really contributed anything classic. This album would be a massive success, if it was given radio time. But thats not going to happen, so any success will have to be spread by word of mouth. If you like guitar driven, bluesy, gritty rock, then buy this album.

hardcore Southern rock 7 May 2007
By bookchick - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
More people should listen to the Dexateens. This little rock band from Tuscaloosa mixes influences like Skynard (of course) and the Allman Brothers (duh)with Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Old 97s, and even more unexpected sounds like Lambchop and the Silver Jews. Hardwire Healing is possibly their best record (though fans of pure cruncy guitar might prefer their eponymous debut cd), blending country and rock sounds with intelligent lyrics. If you're ever in Tuscaloosa, check out a live show, too-- they rock!
