This is a brilliant album. It's hard, funky, dark and introspective. The lyrics and samples are awesome all the way through, and the music was well ahead of it's day. I once heard their material described as evil, hardcore bigbeat, and that's no lie.

One of their songs is currently being used in the Fiat Punto advert, and I've heard lots of people raving about it. A Radio 1 DJ was also using a Hardknox track as backing music the other day, and I'm really hoping interest picks up and it spurs them into doing another album. In all honesty this is what the last Prodigy album should have been!

Buy it NOW.

Also check out "How to operate with a blown mind" by the Lo-Fi Allstars, "Endtroducing" by DJ Shadow, and the self titled album by Teargas and Plateglass.

They were easily the most exciting, dirty, plain VICIOUS thing to emerge from the 'Big Beat' bubble centered round Skint records. Then they left for America and, following this album, just seemed to fade away. Not only did they make music so bassy and adrenalin-filled that it rattled your fillings, they could dj like they'd sold their souls too. The only time I ever went to a club on my own and ended up enjoying myself, it was Hardknox on the decks.
It is time for a Hardknox revival!
Oh, and the album? Well, if you searched out the three previous 12"s (Come In Hard, Psychopath and Coz I Can) you've got most of the best of it (plus non-album tracks!). Apart from Comin' Back With A Sword (a fortune awaits the dj who revives that), much of the rest is a bit filler-ish, like it's had the kick produced out of it. Essential if you've not heard the singles, though.

Hardknox have been brewing this one for ages and I think it's paid off. If you want some hard breaks with the odd heavy riff and sample pasted over the top then this IS what you want. It's the theme tune to your adrenaline rush.

Just got back from a Moby concert at the Astoria with my best friend and girlfriend, and before Moby we had the pleasure to be entertained by this band. A VERY hardcore, big-beat sorta act and they were fu***ng good. A long-intro'd beginning to their first track gave way to a VERY bone-shaking bass-line. And that was that. The speakers rocked the stage, floor and my bladder, shaking me doen to my very core, a kind of dance band with funky riffs and samples, sort of like Ry Cooder meets Leftfield. Check 'em out if you like your dance hard and fast ! ( who doesn't ! ) I'm ordering it right away. 'Nuff said
