Book Description

1 July 2014 Caroline and West

Caroline still dreams about West. His warm skin, his taut muscles, his hand sliding down her stomach. Then she wakes up and she's back to reality: West is gone. Before he left, he broke her heart.

Then, out of the blue, West calls in crisis. A tragedy has hit his family-a family that's already a fractured mess. Caroline knows what she has to do. Without discussion, without stopping to think, she's on a plane, flying to his side to support him in any way he needs.

Though they are together once more, things are totally different. West looks edgy, angry at the world. Caroline doesn't fit in. She should be back in Iowa, finalizing her civil suit against the ex-boyfriend who posted their explicit pictures on a revenge porn website. But here she is. Deeply into West, wrapped up in him, in love with him. Still.

They fought the odds once. Losing each other was hard. But finding their way back to each other couldn't be harder.

4.0 out of 5 stars Caroline & West book 2 3 July 2014
By Sarah (Feeling Fictional) TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
I absolutely loved Deeper, in fact it's one of my favourite books of the year, so you can imagine how excited I was to get my hands on the sequel Harder. It broke my heart when West had to leave Caroline to go back home but I could completely understand why he had to do it and I loved him even more for being such caring and protective brother. Harder picks up the story a couple of months after West broke Caroline's heart, she misses him like crazy and is trying to get used to her life without him in it but when she receives a desperate phone call from him in the middle of the night about a family emergency she doesn't have to think twice, she immediately books herself onto the next flight so she can be there to support him.

The West she finds in Silt is very different to the one she knew though, he's so angry at the world and has a major chip on his shoulder about his family situation and how his life has been turned upside down. You can't really blame him for his feelings, Caroline certainly doesn't, but she finds it incredibly frustrating that he keeps pushing her away when all she wants more than anything is to be there to help him like he helped her. My heart really broke for West in this book, he is under so much pressure from his useless mother and he's trying so hard to do the right thing for his sister Frankie that he forgets that he deserves to have happiness for himself too. He pushes Caroline away because he doesn't want her caught up in his messy life. He doesn't feel that he will ever manage to get away from his past and build a life for himself and he refuses to drag Caroline down with him.

I found myself incredibly angry on Caroline's behalf throughout the first half of the story though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Harder (Caroline & West #2) 16 July 2014
Format:Paperback
Harder by Robin York is the sequel to Deeper. I really enjoyed Harder. So much so I devoured the whole book in one. Which is a rare thing for me lately. Harder is addictive, exciting and freaking sexy!!

Harder is set a few months after Deeper. West is back home in Silts and Caroline is still trying to get over him. However, when West calls her late one night she drops everything and goes to him. However, West has changed. He is harder, not the West she remembers but Caroline refuses to believe that her West is no longer there. Thrown together again Caroline and West embark on yet another crazy ride. Drama, Drama, Drama!

Caroline and West. I loved them and hated them at the same time. Together they are adorable. Both really strong characters and have such interesting stories to tell. However, at times they both drove me insane. Caroline even though she is very independent, at some points she came across slightly stalkerish and a doormat. West is very protective and caring especially towards his little sister but he could come across as a bit of an ass. They way he treats Caroline at one point was so messed up that I wanted to kill him and shake her and tell her to get a grip!

The story itself was addictive. I devoured it within one day. Lately It has been taking me a few days sometimes weeks to read a book but the plot and chemistry between all the characters is engaging. And really keeps you hooked. Harder comes across as a lot more grown up than Deeper. Deeper tackles a serious issue called "Revenge Porn" but in Harder we see the characters facing even more problems and issues that really make you feel for them.

I highly recommend Harder if you enjoyed Deeper. It is a good and gripping story packed full of drama, interesting characters and romance!!

I had the BIGGEST book hangover after reading Deeper, the first book in the Caroline and West series, and I was so desperate to find out what would happen next to them

In Harder, we start shortly after where we left of from Deeper – Caroline is dreaming about West, missing him more than she’s missed anyone in her life, and trying her best to get on with life without him after he broke her heart. Then suddenly West calls late in the night with a crisis – and Caroline doesn’t even stop to think, getting straight on the next plane to support him in any way he needs. But when they are back together in person, things are different. West is angry at the world, and Caroline feels out of place, but she is still so deeply in love with West. Losing each other was hard the first time, but how hard will it be for them to find their way back to each other?

Ohmygosh. OHMYGOSH WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK. Wow, just wow. I was SO hopeful for an amazing sequel after Deeper and oh Robin did not disappoint one bit! From the very beginning we are thrown back in with Caroline and West and it is a TRUE rollercoaster ride! There are ups and some truly joyous moments where my heart leaped with delight at Caroline and West. But this novel is called Harder for a reason, and in it we delve further into West’s background, seeing what life really is for him back in his hometown of Silt. I was particularly fascinated to read more about his shattered family, and read about the dynamics, relationships and feelings between them. West’s family helped me understand more about him – I felt I understood his personality more, I understood his drive to work the amount of jobs he does, his determination to do well and how his homelife has shaped who he is today.
