This is a delightful and inspiring book written by a lady who is obviously an enthusiast. As a person who has done very little embroidery, I enjoyed this book because it starts with a brief history of Hardanger, and moves through a comprehensive section on the basic stitches to sections with different projects ranging from mini samplers to table cloths. (I especially appreciated this because I was afraid that I might not complete a large project successfully, and that may cause me to waste material which is quite expensive.)
I found this book useful because it explains how to prepare for your project, and gives simple charts that are easy to follow, printed about twice as big as the finished product so they are easy to count and follow. I have just completed one of the three mini samplers, and am going to tackle a larger project with confidence because each step is clearly explained, and the chart is clearly marked with each step.
There are one or two unusual features included in some of the projects, such as beadwork, and the projects are all inspiring, beautiful, and functional.
This book explains all I need to know to be confident enough to tackle any Hardanger project in the future, knowing that this reference book is waiting for me if I get stuck
