Product Description

Product Description

• Ace’s second salute to the genius of Jack Nitzsche is no less compelling than our first.

• Once again the tracks have been carefully selected to give the full breadth of Nitzsche’s abilities during every stage of his 40+ year career, from his earliest sessions, through to Jack’s final collaborations with C.C. Adcock just months before his death.

• The track listing features a copious quantity of rare material, including many previously unissued tracks that will be new to even the most avid Nitzsche collector.

• The tenacity of Ace’s licensing department has resulted in our being able to include many tracks that were not available at the time of the previous CD’s release. Artists even queried their absence from Volume One and interceded with their record companies on our behalf.

• As with "Hearing Is Believing" (CDCHD 1030), this CD is produced with the full co-operation and approval of Jack Nitzsche’s family.

Product Description

VOLUME TWO : Further 26-track compilation of the legendary producer 'n' arranger's work! Features Captain Beefheart ; Righteous Brothers ; Crazy Horse ; The Turtles ; Everly Brothers ; The Monkees ; The Tubes ; Neville Brothers and more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy work. 4 May 2013

This is a great introduction to the workings of the legendary Jack Nitzsche. Personally, I only bought it for the amazing 'Hard Working Man' track with Capt. Beefheart, and out of curiosity over the 'Bank Robbery' track with John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal and Miles Davis, which is absolutely stunning (it's from the OST of the fiolm 'Hot Spot' which, despite the filler, has some great blues going on). Along side these tracks are plenty of good tunes from the 60's right up to the present, well, almost the present...

5.0 out of 5 stars Part 2, Terrific followup 6 Dec 2006

Vol 1 of this tribute to Jack Nitzsche was terrific, and this disk maintains the pace. A few of the songs are well known, but perhaps not the versions by the artist on this disk.

But they are all rock solid. Many of the tracks are the best kind of mono - punchy and full-bodied.

If you like the music of 1960-65, and are tired of hearing the same classic hits over and over again, this cd will reawaken your enthusiasm for the era.

There are some tracks from a later era, but they are not out of place. The track with Miles Davis will blow your mind. It made me think of Shaft, or a Tarantino movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius!!!! 16 Mar 2007

This guy was a studio wizard without peer----and I don't want to hear Phil Spector's name mentioned in the same breath. The scope of his work is staggering. Anybody that would put John Lee Hooker and Miles Davis together for a jam session---THAT COULD GET THOSE TWO TOGETHER FOR A JAM SESSION---and then have sense enough to just let the tape roll has got to be a genius. Don't miss this. After Jack, they broke the mold.
