I bought this album after having enjoyed the raw sound of 'Meet The Bellrays' and although this album is perfectly listenable and has its highlights, I have to say that it was a slight disappointment. The sound is more measured and produced than what I had previously heard from the band and although there are some stand-out tracks ('The Same Way', 'The Fire Next Time' and 'That's Not The Way It Should Be'), many of the songs are not particularly memorable. Tony Fate, the chief song-writer on 'Meet The Bellrays', is not involved on this record and it seems that the rest of the band have not yet managed to replace his creative input. Nevertheless, Lisa Kekaula is on fine vocal form throughout and the band certainly sound as though they would be well worth seeing live. Hopefully when they come to record the next album, they'll have a stronger collection of songs to record.
