This film was first shown to me by a friend whose taste in films differs considerably from mine. He just said to me, "if you liked lock stock and two smoking barrels then you'll enjoy this."
How it realy differs from lock stock is that it is amusing in a far less obvious way, it has a much blacker comedy to it.
The story centres around three main characters. Tone, the effective leader of the group with the intelligence. Bear, the big man with a large gun and fairly simple mind, and finally Speed, who is a little bit unsteady at the best of times.
Basically these three hard hitters command a lot of respect simply by putting fear in people and generally being pretty nasty whilst working for the Don, 'Pops Den'. Tone suddenly out of the blue finds out that he is a dad, a little bit of a shock, he comes to the conclusion that he wants out of the life to raise his little girl somewhere nice and sunny. Pops Den finds out and as he treated Tone as his own son is not best pleased and decides that there is no getting out of the game alive. The story then revolves around the three when Pops decides who it is that has to kill Tone.
Good story with well and gradually developed characters as the plot thickens so do the characters grow to meet it. Well acted with a nice twist in the end and well worth a watch. If you like Guy Ritchie's works then you will enjoy this.
