‘Crime pick of the year. Darker, funnier and more violent than the television adaptation, but just as high quality’Mike Ripley, Daily Telegraph

5.0 out of 5 stars David Jason is Jack Frost, 29 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hard Frost (Audio Cassette)
Ex comedian David Jason has got the audio picture of this down at heel detective off to perfection. As usual this is a multi-plot story that unwinds slowly, twisting in its usuall manner. David Jason makes Mr Frost a nicer figure than in the book, and the plot is far deeper than the TV presentation. For those who like audio books, David Jasons, addaptation is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars 9/10 by misterslimm.wordpress.com, 30 Jul 2007
Highly entertaining with a memorably cunning misdirection in the main child kidnapping case but the other cases swirling around are also infused with imagination and character. Jack Frost's mind operates only on crime and his groin but his crudeness is skilfully balanced with his persistence and humanity. This book formed the basis for Season 5 Episode 1 of the ITV David Jason series "A Touch of Frost."

5.0 out of 5 stars Frost is great, 28 May 2009
By Andy C (London) - See all my reviews
Forget the ITV TV programme, this is nothing like it.
Grim, dirty and basic, really great dialogue.
If only ITV had stuck to this it would be even better..honest
Fantastic read, I came to this author only recently, I think like me you will buy the other five volumes once you have read one.
really good read ....enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard frost
Another good read in the Frost series. Rather more earthy than the television adaptation but fast with lots of intertwined plots.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard Frost - hard to take
I bought this book after having seen David Jason as Frost on TV. I was shocked and offended at the sexist language and attitude to women in the written text. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my favourite book in the Frost series.
Offensive but very funny, Jack Frost is a brilliant character. This book is unputdownable. Much better than the televised series. I cant wait for the next one.
