This is by far our favourite cover. We have the Gum drop for iPad 2 and Otterbox Defenders for our iPhone 5s. This one is grippier, snug fitting and just feels better quality.

We now have a well protected iPad mini with no screen scratches or damaged corners. It is splash proof and easily wipeable from dirty little fingers!

If you want to protect your iPad mini from drops and damage, look no further this is the one for you.

Hard Candy Shockdrop Case for iPad Mini 3 Dec. 2012
By A. Rothschild - Published on Amazon.com
I have a black shockdrop case for my mini ipad. I also have a shockdrop for my iPad 2, which I have not used, and a Griffin Survivor, which I do use. Both are really heavy but the Hard Candy smelled too much of tire and i couldn't get over it. I have a three-year old daughter and needed the most protective case I could find, and at that point, the Griffin and Hard Candy were it. The Otterbox got consistently bad reviews, so that was out of the running immediately. I also had (several) Otterbox defender cases for my iPod Touch4, which Otterbox replaced at no charge four times because the silicone on the outside kept stretching out. It's a rugged but a terrible design to have the silicone as the outside layer rather than as the inside layer like the Griffin and Shockdrop. The Griffin, though, has definitely serve its purpose - the thing has been dropped a hundred times. The Hard Candy iPad 2 cases looks just as sturdy, and I used it for a week, but the tire smell didn't dissipate much. Both ipad 2 cases were pretty heavy, though the Griffin is so heavy that it's hardly portable outside home, particularly if you live in NYC. This time around, as I searched for a case for my new iPad Mini I still needed the most durable case I could find, but hoped, without any great expectation, that I would find a more portable and attractive case than the iPad 2 cases. On the list were the Otterbox defender, the Griffin Survivor, and the Hard Candy Shockdrop. After a lot of research, I decided on the Shockdrop for the somewhat silly reason that it was the cutest of the three. Each case has a built-in screen protector, which for me was essential, and each was clearly rugged enough to handle the inevitable falls and spills and other mishaps that would inevitable happen. So it was also crucial that the cover be reasonably sealed, but also that the camera, speakers, and other sockets be accessible without ruining the case. The Griffin definitely failed in that respect. It has these ridiculous tabs that have to be opened and moved aside to expose the speaker or use the camera, and charge it. That was a really bad design. I ended up cutting off several of those tabs just to make it usable, and of course, the exposed speaker got wet. Ugh! The Shock Drop is a totally different beast. The case protects every part of the device without having to remove or adjust anything for the device to be fully functional. In the end, weight was less a factor than protection, but I did hope I would be able to carry my Mini around with me and hoped it wouldn't look like an embarrassing suit of armor, but that wasn't my priority. Well here's my experience: (A) It is VERY light in comparison to any of the other protective cases, and I can carry easily in my bag walking around or on the subway in NYC. (B) It's extremely protective. It has already passed the drop test several times, as well as the spagetti and apple sauce tests. For protection, in my opinion, a built-in screen protector is critical, particularly if there are children. (C) It is cute and grippy. I like the nubby checker-like design. It's attractive and very easy to hold. Oh, and there's no tire smell.

An ideal combination of form and function! 23 Nov. 2012
By Ilan - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this case to protect my iPad mini, and it's an excellent product. The case has a hard composite skeleton which snaps to the iPad mini, then gets covered by the silicone skin. The case is easy to install, although securing the silicone tabs to the composite skeleton can be a little tedious. It makes a very secure connection and is worth the extra few seconds to properly put it on.

I actually had the iPad knocked out of my hands from about 4' off the ground this Thanksgiving, and when the iPad landed it made a very soft sound and the device didn't take any damage at all. That covers the main part of the functional aspects. All the ports are easily accessible from the flaps, the volume and power buttons are very well-linked and don't feel like there's a layer of silicone between the button and your finger. The only downside is that the home button does feel squishy and it's sometimes difficult to tell when you've actually pressed it. For how well the case is made and how well it functions, I can live with that.

For looks and form, the case is awesome. The rugged design on the back is reminiscent of a tank tread and doesn't have any awkward and poorly-executed features that other cases have. The tread backing gives your fingers mechanical grip on the device aside from the higher friction compared to the bare metal iPad. The case is nice and thick, and it makes the iPad easier to hold. While some argue it defeats the purpose of having an ultra-thin electronic device, the true benefit to thinner devices is that they're not as thick with protective cases installed as they used to be. The case has a very ideal thickness which is close to how your fingers would naturally hold something like this in your hand.

I am extremely happy with this case, and it's well worth the asking price. Other cases will save you $10 or $20, but do not offer the genuinely flawless protection that HardCandy Cases engineers into their items.

Shock-Drop 20 Nov. 2012
By M. SAP - Published on Amazon.com
Excellent, sturdy case. Fits the iPad Mini like a glove with no loose fitting edges. The silicon padding is ample enough to protect the iPad from minor bumps scrapes. The screen or face protector is very robust but has an odd finish that causes you fingers to drag or skip across the screen. I tried cleaning the surface with window cleaner and that helped somewhat. i finally solved the issue with a RainX, AccuVision type glass treatment and that seemed to fix the problem. Except for the issue with the face protector I would have given the case 5 Stars. great case, a little bulky but works great in my bike bag and backpack. Would recommend!

Perfect Case for Kids! 27 Nov. 2012
By Chad Thibodeaux - Published on Amazon.com
I bought two of these for my boys to protect their iPad Minis. The case fits the Mini perfectly. Before installing, be sure the Mini and screen cover are free from lint. Have patience when installing the outer frame. Some of the tabs may need gentle massaging to get them inserted. Once you're done, however, you will have a perfect seal for your iPad.

The rubberized housing provides a good non-slip grip for both large and small hands. Plus the kids think the tread like texture is cool. I feel confident that my investment will be protected by this case.

A great product and I highly recommend it.

doesnt protect like a hard case 19 Jun. 2013

Daughter dropped it 2' up, (shes 6) and it left a small dent by the volume button. I recommend a complete enclosed hard case for max protection. Of course its not as comfortable and its heavier but protects better ( a trade off)
