Best case so far (with caveats) 24 July 2010
By Mr. Tangent - Published on Amazon.com

While I haven't tried every case, I undertook the requisite research while trying to protect my new iPhone 4. I scoured google, amazon, ilounge and obviously youtube. While there aren't a lot of cases out yet this one seemed the best as far as my needs were concerned, both protection-wise and aesthetically. It does not protect the front glass so if that's a factor for you then you will need either another case or will need to put a screen protector on it. However, I used an iPhone 3G for two years and never once had a scratch on the glass (I did, however, keep it away from my keys, change and handled with relative care) so I don't think you really need to worry about scratching the glass, unless you throw your phone around.

With that said, this is a great case. It is made of plastic and has two thin foam pads on the inside that help keep the phone cushioned. It will help alleviate scuffs and nicks to the metal sides and also the back glass (and various buttons/switches) but it is not meant to protect on drops of more than a foot or two (especially on concrete). It would be better than nothing, but again, these type of cases are great for keeping the phone scuff-free, but I wouldn't just throw the phone around either. The phone works well within the case but as the other reviewer mentioned it's a bit hard to get to the on/off button as well as the silent switch. Nothing too difficult but requires a little more dexterity (it won't annoy you, though, and this is probably a good thing; if it didn't enclose them so well they would be more apt to be hit by impact).

The only minor problems I see with this case was there was a little excess glue on the inside where the foam was applied to the plastic. It didn't interfere with the case or iPhone, and once the case is closed you won't see it (and it might have just been on mine, not every one). Also, the opening to the back camera/light was a millimeter too small so the metal ring is slightly blocked (BUT the camera/light are in no way affected, it's purely cosmetic and you would be hard pressed to see what I'm referring to). The microphone and speakers are unaffected by the case.

The plastic's texture and especially the round indentations of the case help for keeping it in your hands (unlike some smooth plastic cases I've held before). It looks great and isn't too bulky. The bottom slides off in case you want to hook it up to a dock, or have an aftermarket iPhone/USB cable connector that is wider than normal.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this case but be careful when putting it on the first time. The ring/silent switch sticks out and when you're sliding the phone inside the case the plastic wants to hang on the switch (on the two openings on the top left of the case for the ring/silent switch and volume up/down buttons). I used my finger to push the case outward a little, allowing the phone not to catch on it. It's minor and probably won't hurt your phone's switch, but I wouldn't jam it on because if it hangs it could theoretically damage the ring/silent switch.

Lastly, this case completely encloses the sides (and back) of the phone so you don't have to worry about touching the antenna and causing the "death grip" issue.

** UPDATE: I've used this case now for seven or eight months and the case will slightly scratch the metal around the volume buttons. What happens is when you're sliding the main part on, the mute switch catches on the plastic and causes it to become jagged. The jagged edges then scratch the metal a little. They should have had one large opening for the mute switch and volume buttons (instead of two separate ones), alleviating this problem. So be careful as this case will eventually scratch your iPhone ever so slighty.

Cuter than I expected! 23 Jan. 2012

I purchased this case to replace the Incipio case I purchased a few months ago that was looking worse for the wear. This one seems like it's going to hold up better. The red is a very bright red, and the dimples are less prominent than the stock image makes them appear. The case has a nice texture, and that dimples make it easier and more comfortable to hold.

Good case with minor flaws 22 July 2010

I've tested many cases in the stores (bestbuy and radioshack) but none were what I wanted. This one looks good and does not feel cheap at all.
Here are the pros and cons of this case:
Pros:
Looks great on the phone and give the phone a good grip.
It holds the phone very tight and secure. (I read in a review that it put scratches on the back of someones phone, not true, could not happen at all because everything is plastic and rubber).
Feels that it would protect the phone from falls (not tested), inside the case there are two rubber strips to secure the phone from moving around.
The hole for camera and flash have enough clearance so no issue with flash photography (a complain that I read about many other cases).

Cons:
Makes the phone a bit bulky, I guess that would be the case for any other protective case though.
The lock button on top of the phone is a bit hard to access due to case thickness and little clearance.
I had an invisishield screen protector on the front and this case ruined the corners of it because it grips all edges tightly.
A bit pricy for a piece of plastic.

I hope it lasts so I don't have to replace it.

Hard candy bubble case review 18 Jan. 2014

Poor quality for $35. Very cheaply made. Was really hoping for decent quality considering price. Would not recommend. Planning to return. Don't think will protect from a fall.
Great protection - to a point 14 Aug. 2010

Pros:
Works perfectly for docking (with Apple dock!)
Stylish
Allows for add-ons such as GPS magnet mounts
Feels firm and protective in the hand
Slides in and out of pockets, but still grippy

Cons:
Buttons on top and side are a bit hard to access due to the thickness of the case
Can be a bit troublesome when sliding on over volume buttons

Overall, this is a great case, and though some people may not like the "bubble" design, I think it was a definite early winner as far as iPhone 4 slider cases go. This is a very solid case with great features - two thumbs up.
