5.0 out of 5 stars easy peasy cheerful 3 July 2012
By Elaine B Reader TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Brightly coloured felt, primary coloured stitching and simple fabrics to work with - beginners delight. Jodie Rackley is known for her Indie Craft designs and for being a featured artist for Kunin Felt and this is her first book.
The items are fun to work, excellent for making up with children - no edge finishing on felt, plenty of practise of simple embroidery stitches on really cute designs. I totally love the mini mushroom bag, have absolutely no use for it, and can't wait to make it!!
So many things in here are useful, pot holder, placemat, bookmark and various cozies, but really most of them are just decorative and delightful and a joy to look at.
I feel that books like this encourage anyone to start sewing and crafting, a pack of felt and some floss, a bit of cotton fabric, needles, and away you go! All very achievable for a small outlay and an hour or two of leisure time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to make handsewn projects 12 Aug 2012
By Sewing Directory TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
This book is full of bright and cheerful hand sewing projects using fabric and felt. Most the projects are fairly quick to make, and they use techniques like appliqué and embroidery. There is a techniques section at the front of the book which includes a guide to the embroidery stitches used. You could quite easily make these projects whilst relaxing and watching TV in the evenings.

Projects include gadget cases, felt badges, an apron, a fabric lampshade, soft toys and ornaments. There are 30 projects in total with detailed instructions and step by step photos. The simplicity of these projects, and the fact you don't require a sewing machine makes them ideal for beginners, or for older children/teenagers.

This review also appears on The Sewing Directory.

Excellent. Have flicked through and am taken with the felt "paper" chains which I'm planning on making for Christmas this year. Having done very little sewing / anything I'm hoping this book will help guide me.
