4.0 out of 5 stars Good script, good story, good acting = One very good film! 27 Jan 2014

I think the film makers are saying: For the last time...sexuality is a continuum. Many if not most individuals will experience desire for both genders at varying points in their life's journey. There is no reason to doubt your sanity or your fundamental orientation. Oh, and by the way, open relationships usually don't work out. Most human beings are just too fragile for multiple partners in a committed relationship (no matter what they say), and someone always, ALWAYS gets hurt. On the other hand, if for a time, two committed folks want to openly explore and think they can handle it, be our guest. But don't say we didn't warn you.

4.0 out of 5 stars So modern, yet timeless 17 Feb 2014

This tale is so modern, yet timeless. The two couples' openness to opening up their relationships seems so modern, yet I suspect many couples across the millenia have struggled with issues related to emotional and physical fidelity. The film provides no right-and-wrong answers to the questions of whether to or not maintain emotional and physical monogamy and fidelity. The lack of moralizing is appropriate. The decisions regarding emotional and physical monogamy are couple-by-couple choices, rather than a one-size fits-all societal morality. What this film does nicely is to explore the complications that can arise from the decision to turn away from absolute monogamy -- on levels emotional, psychological, and sexual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Affecting 8 Jun 2014

You really get into the heads of the four main characters and even some more characters. It's intense and engaging and deep. The characters are very likable. They want to be open-minded and adventurous with their relationships and sex but it just seems to get them into serious trouble. The film is engrossing yet somewhat hard to watch because of all the intense emotion. But I couldn't turn away. Nicely done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good 12 April 2014

This film gives a very good look at an often marginalized part of society. It doesn't judge or give you a sense of what is right or wrong, but let's the characters just be. Very modern and a interesting take on open relationships.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Well Done 15 Feb 2014

This is a surprisingly well done movie -- well filmed and acted. A sexual roundelay like out of turn of the 20th century Vienna -- but this one in young and hip NYC.
