Product Description

What if your husband had an affair with a beautiful actress?

What if you were blackmailed into impersonating someone else on primetime TV?

What if your beloved twelve year old son suddenly disappeared?

What if you fell hopelessly in love with someone you definitely shouldn’t have fallen in love with?

Could you ever be happy again?

Jane Anderson has always been happy for her husband Paul, a handsome garden designer, to take the spotlight while she looks after their son Jeremy. But when Paul wins a gold medal at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show, he catches the eye of glamour-puss Elizabeth – and it’s not just his horticultural skills she’s interested in. Jane’s oldest friend Susie invites her to New York for a little therapeutic shopping and sightseeing, but in Manhattan Jane finds she bears an amazing likeness to TV's Rosie Reynolds, ultra-glamorous host of the popular news and talk show Happy Hour, and that's when her troubles really begin. After Rosie’s botched face-lift Jane is offered the job of emergency stand-in on Happy Hour. But here she meets Lou, a dangerously charming man who also happens to be Rosie’s husband...

For Jane, it’s the hour of truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Really Enjoyed it! 23 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm not always attracted to chic lit, but for some reason I was rather intrigued by the basic premise of this novel. So it was one of several I downloaded for some lightweight reading to take on holiday recently. Well, I'm glad I did, and I wasn't disappointed. In fact I enjoyed it so much I finished it in a couple of days.
All the characters... particularly Jane, Paul, Susie and Lou, are most likeable and extremely well drawn, and the imaginative, twisty storyline, kept me turning the pages well into the first night, and I'd finished it by the second!
Although towards the end I kind of guessed how it would eventually turn out, this didn't spoil my enjoyment one bit. No details or "spoilers" from me here though... you'll have to read it yourself to find out what does happen. It has a light hearted appeal for anyone who enjoys romance set within a glamorous American TV show biz type setting. I can recommend it as a perfect holiday read, and I will watch out for more from this talented author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bittersweet easy-reading 10 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Not my usual cup-of-tea but if you like "chick-lit" don't miss out on this Kindle bargain. The characters are well-drawn, the story has some fun and original elements (although there are few surprises in the plot), and it zips along nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended 15 Oct 2012

I just found this to be the perfect read for two days lying on the sofa feeling ill - A good, light hearted, fast moving story with likeable characters that you don't have to think too hard about but can get totally absorbed in. Partly set in New York in a high flying glamorous TV network setting, and partly set in the world of a garden designer's business in Sussex, the story is very "twisty turny" so you are kept on your toes right up to the end. It can be a bit cheesy at times, but then again it is "chick lit", so who cares! Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good read! 29 Sep 2012

Wasn't sure if this was my sort of book when I downloaded it, but I'm pleased that I did. I mostly like books that are light reading that I don't have to concentrate too much on remembering all the characters.

The plot moves between a sleepy village in rural England and the bustling and star-studded city of New York with a bit of showbiz London thrown in. The story moves along nicely. The four main characters, Jane, Paul, Susie and Lou are very well described and likeable. There are funny situations and some that tug at the heart strings, a few twists and I suppose a predictable ending - although I have to say that this didn't make the story any less enjoyable. Difficult to put down once you have started, I read this book within a couple of days.

A great book to take on holiday or for snuggling up with on the sofa!

4.0 out of 5 stars do read this! 29 Jun 2012

A really positive review here. I enjoyed the book immensely - I have a slight reservation about how fast the heroine and her man fell in love - but hey it's a novel!

Some fun backgrounds of TV, gardening and New York .... all of which I enjoyed and a just a really good story that moved at a strong pace.

I happened to be able to download this free but it didn't remain that way for long - but having read it - I would happily have paid £5 for the book - great fun!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely 20 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
What a lovely little book. Proper old school chick lit it is, Full of little twists and turns and eye opening moments. Love and heartbreak, fear and unexpected surprises. Everything you want in a quick and easy read.

Story follows Jane Anderson a full-time mum to 12 year old Jeremy, and full-time skivvy to her husband Paul and their or should I say his gardening business. With Jeremy home from Boarding school one weekend he happens to come across his father and one of his female clients in what can only be described as a very intimate business encounter on her kitchen table! Poor kid. After telling his mum, Jane goes for a mini break to New York to visit her oldest friend Susie. This is where her life changes drastically! From the minute she hits US ground she is spun into a world full of lies, deceit, fake identity, blackmail, lust & celebrity status!

I really enjoyed this book I did. It was very easy to read had loads of little gritty bits to keep me wanting more and had a good selection of characters and personalities. A really good honest if not tricky love story. One word for it, Lovely there no other way to describe it.

I'd recommend this book if you are looking on a quick, charming and lovely read.

5.0 out of 5 stars So well named! 22 April 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just finished with a big smile on my face. Wonderful story. Jane Anderson, formerly trained florist has been married to Paul for 20 years with a teenage son. She has given up her dreams of having her own flower shop, and put all her energy and talent into helping run Paul's horticultural business. Jeremy, their son, is all upset with his dad and finally Jane discovers why. Paul has become 'involved' with the wife of a client whose garden he is redesigning.
Meanwhile, Suzie, Jane's best friend who lives in New York, issues an invite and Jane goes over to visit. At a museum, a talent scout approaches Jane and tells her that she is amazingly like a famous tv presenter, Rosie Reynolds. It seems that Rosie has gone in for a secret little 'procedure' with the surgeons and has not told her adoring public. She's not going to be able to make it for the next live show and the studio asks Jane to help out. She's horrified but finds herself agreeing to it in exchange for some money. Jane thinks this will be a big help if the worst happens and Paul decides to divorce her.
Jane meets all the backstage people involved with the show including Lou, Rosie's alchoholic husband.
I can't tell you any more but this story is convuluted and mesmerising. It's pure fantasy and makes good and fun reading. There are serious parts too; when Jane is discovering the depth of Paul's betrayal with 'the other woman', I empathised completely as I know exactly how that feels and the author expressed it perfectly. But there's a happy ending here, so do download this and give yourself a chick-flit treat.
