5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Home 20 Jun 2012
Format:Hardcover
I love Jennifer Paganelli's wonderful vibrant fabrics and her second book Happy Home was not a disappointment. It has patterns for cushions, dog bed and bags, along with banners, bunting, duvet covers and Christmas stockings. A perfect treat for the eye as the photography is beautiful. All the patterns are well explained, so perfect for a newer sewer or some one who would like to start - this will spur you on to make lots of fabulous things for your home. There are also patterns for the perfect summer hat, aprons and party table settings, also perfect for a wedding.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Simple Sewing 22 July 2012
By Elaine B Reader TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
Fabulous fabrics give this book the wow factor, and if you're not an amazingly experienced sewer, give it another wow because everything is easy.
Plenty of lovely, clean, bright fabrics to shop for and items that are easily achievable to end up with. Some items need small pieces of fabric such as a patchworker will have, but most items are made with yardage, and as such are easier and cheaper to buy fabric for.
The fabrics are from Jennifer's own company -Sis Boom, and shows them used as large cushions with trims around the edges, table cloth with napkins, laundry bags, bunting, there's a doggy bed cover and also covered boxes to store your bits and bobs in.
The patterns are all full size and in a handy pocket at the front of the book.
I think this book is likely to inspire anyone new to sewing but, on the downside, there's nothing actually new in here, and unless you don't have any books on basic makes you won't need this for instructions. If the look of this appeals to you, and you have books on simple makes, then save your money for the fabrics.

4.0 out of 5 stars glorious colors and patterns 8 April 2012
By liberal sprinkles - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Warning: Happy Home is an explosion of colors. Enter at your own risk!

Seriously though, if you love Jennifer Paganelli's style, I don't see why this book won't be a favorite. There is an overload of amazing hues and patterns. The palette is bright, bold, happy and festive. The 21 projects are designed to help you transform your home into a vivid, happy space filled with cute, pretty and girly accessories. There are tutorials for ruffle pillows, fabric-covered boxes, bags, a basket, a bed cover, a bed skirt and a quilt. Additionally, there are projects to dress up your home for parties, like banners, garlands and pom-pom poufs. With some finished projects from the book, I can imagine throwing cheery bashes in a welcoming environment - and in glorious technicolor.

I like the book's design and photography. The instructions step-by-step, accompanied by a few diagrams. I would have preferred more diagrams or photos to illustrate the tutorials, which are heavily text-based. But the projects are not too difficult and some easy enough for beginners who will find the introductory chapter on basics of sewing techniques useful. There are pattern sheets attached.

Overall, this is a prettily put together book. The projects are not unusual but the fabrics are a treat and draw in themselves. Even if I didn't sew, I'd probably still have feasted on the kaleidoscope of colors and patterns.

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy Indeed 29 Jun 2012
By Cajame Creations - Published on Amazon.com

I'm a huge fan of Jennifer's fabrics, and I pre-ordered the book on Amazon as soon as I heard about it. Amazingly it arrived (in the UK), before anyone in the US received it.

It's a lovely book, full of beautifully photographed, vibrant makes - and you can't fail but feel happy as you turn the pages. If you're a fabric fan like me, you will probably be the owner of a plentiful stash of fabric and books - you just can't help yourself. If you love bright, modern fabrics - you will love this.

The projects are all fairly simple, and are ideal for sewing skills of all levels, including beginners. As a lover of colour, and all things a little quirky - the makes in this book appeal to me. Instructions are clear and concise - and you can't fail to be inspired by the gorgeous photography, which showcases all the fabulous Sis Boom fabrics at their best. If only I could buy them in the UK!

I read an earlier review, giving only 2 stars - which said that other than photos, you could find everything else online. Of course you probably can - but you can say that about just about anything nowadays. This is a book which I am delighted to have as part of my large collection of sewing books. I can generally make something by looking at it, and usually make up my own designs anyway - but it certainly doesn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this book.

In summary - a great book to add to your collection, or indeed a great gift for someone interested in sewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Colorful Delight! 21 Jun 2012
By blueeyedcharlie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Love the inspiration in Happy Home! Probably overlooked by most, I love the quote on the dedication page, "The more you strive and search for happiness the more you overlook the possibility that it is here already." Robert Holden ...
That speaks much to the Sis Boom lifestyle that is found in this book. Are the projects all that complex? No, not really. Are they all about Sis Boom fabrics? Well, yes the Sis Boom collections are all that are pictured, but Ms. Paganelli has a brand she is promoting and anyone with an acumen for business and branding know that is a necessary evil. Would they look good in "other" fabrics? Why of course....and the juicier and more colorful those fabrics the better. Tim Geaney's photography ROCKS this book and the Styling done by the author and her crew is so delightful to the eye. To me this book is probably 90% inspiration and 10% utilitarian. But I make my own designs from scratch. For the non sewist who would like to try some sewing, this book could be a great fit. The instructions are a little light on illustrations to go with the text for my taste, but I believe the instructions seem thorough. And there are plenty of non-sewing projects too. All in all, a charming and inspirational read. Great for the coffee table, the sewing room, and the summer folly set up out in the backyard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Fab!!! 29 Jun 2012
By Molly - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I am a really big fan of Jennifer Paganelli's - I love her fabrics, her patterns, last book Girl's World and of course her incredible sensability. Her new book, Happy Home is all the Jennifer Paganelli "loveliness" packed in a beautifully styled book that includes some really accesible and fun patterns that all ages and skill levels can work on - the directions are easu to follow, the pictures are inspiring and lots of creativity. Who would not want to pretty their home with Jennifer's help.
It is a must read and of the projects are a must do!
Worth checking out!
