More from Murray please!,
This review is from: Happy Accidents (Paperback)
As a huge fan of Cold Comfort Farm i was intrigued to read this new writer's work and see how she could possibly have lived up to that perennial classic. Well.....i'm very pleased to say that she does and in spades. An original, imaginative voice shines through on every page with hilarious descrptions of life in rural England in the eighties and a whole host of wonderful characters.Kate Happy is the most fantastic protagonist, her descriptions of her bizarre life are both fascinating and hilarious and Murray makes this child's voice shine through so perfectly. A firm recommendation for reading groups as you can spend hours discussing who your favourite character was and which scene you loved best. I defy anyone not to roar with laughter at the scene with Aunt Reggie and the renactment of the Battle of Britain! One of my favourite books of 2005, fingers crossed that Tiffany Murray writes another one soon.

A Brillantly Happy Accident,
This review is from: Happy Accidents (Paperback)
Wonderfully funny, but with touches of Bruce Chatwin's On The Black Hill. Haven't enjoyed a book so much in a long time, clever yet thoroughly entertaining - the Happy family are very hard to forget. I can't recommend it enough. Brilliant.

Believe the critics and make this the smash it deserves,
By Juliet Benson "JulieB" (Wiltshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Happy Accidents (Paperback)
I haven't got the time or space to express how much I loved reading Happy Accidents. By the end, I was slowing down to a snail's pace, so desperate was I not to finish it, knowing that then some colour would go out of my life. It is funny, touching, agonisingly reminiscent of the Eighties (I think I must be the same age as the author - 36 - because her memories are just too similar to my own)and wonderfully, vibrantly mad! I have now bought it for my mother, both sisters-in-law and about 14 friends. If you buy one book this year, make it Happy Accidents: you'll love it.
