Have bought a few of Andrews books, and enjoy reading them. Bought this one as soon as it came out, read it and really enjoyed it, could not put it down. Took it into work and a few of my colleagues read it and loved it also. A few friends are going through difficult times at the moment so bought a few more copies to give to them as presents. I love the way he writes and the illustrations he draws, this book is great for anyone even if you are not going through hard times.

Happiness is in you 13 Mar 2011

I have read previous books by this author Being Happy!: A Handbook to Greater Confidence and Security and Follow Your Heart: Finding a Purpose in Your Life and Work: Finding Purpose in Your Life and Work and found them inspirational and this one is just as good. Happiness is a state of mind says the author and it's something which comes from you rather than from external circumstances. The book is full of inspirational stories of people who have overcome tremendous odds to achieve what they wanted in life.

In the modern world human beings are all too apt to say they will be happy and content when a particular event takes place. But that is not the right way to look at it; you need to be happy and content to have good things come to you. People attract the things they focus on. If you focus on lack of money then you will continue to be poor. Focus on having enough for your needs and you will have enough for your needs. If you concentrate on your lack of friends then you will continue to lack friends.

It is all too easy to get stuck in a rut where you think nothing can ever change but if you focus on what you want to happen then you are well on the way to making it happen. Even if you don't win the lottery feeling happy will still bring good things to your door.

Sometimes personal stories can be too mawkish and sentimental but the stories included in this book are far from that. They are matter of fact descriptions of how people turned their lives round from often appalling events. They may make you cry - I know some affected me like that - but they will also inspire you to change your own outlook on life.

This is a book to be read and re-read and to find inspiration in when things are not looking good. You can change your life by changing your attitude. Even if you don't like self help books - give this one a go. It's worth it for the illustrations alone and for the `In a nutshell' summaries.
