Young sitcom writer Paula Stewart has had just about as much of her father and his partner's squabbling as she can take. Her lovable, funny dad is, or was, one half of the very successful comedy duo of Stewart and Hamilton, but a silly argument as torn them asunder and now her dad bangs and rattle about the house like an elephant. It's enough to drive a girl mad.
She tells her day she's going to call Uncle Paul (Paul Stewart, the partner and the man she was named after) and get them to patch everything up. He responds by asking her if she'll change her name to Rebecca, then makes her promise not to make that call.
So Paula and Paul's son Alex cook up a plan. They'll pretend to be engaged, pretend to be in love and that way their parents will have to bury the hatchet. However somewhere along the way boring old legal beagle Alex starts to look a little different to Paula and vice versa I might add.
I really like this comical and sweet romance. Ms. Ferrarella served up delicious characters, properly seasoned and a nicely marinated plot that had me reading the night away. I had a nice dinner planed, but had leftover instead as I poured through this story. I liked it and I think you will too.
