Product Description

Product Description

My First tool box is your little craftsman's starter kit. Children enjoy hammering in nails and fixing things together with screws and bolts, only to take them all apart again. The simple design offers an understanding of simple mechanics and how tools can be used to build.

2012 marks a new dawning for Educo, nearly 30 years after its conception, as it evolves and re-launches with a fresh new identity as Hape and a new refrain 'Love Play. Learn'. ‘We believe children do not play to learn; children learn because they play’. Their toys are created to inspire play, learning and exploration of the world we live in. Hape also believes that the future begins - and belongs - to our children. They feel it is their duty to leave them with infinite possibilities, not unsolvable problems. Hape work to very high standards and consider the environment at every stage in the development of their award winning toys. They use FSC accredited wood, carry out rigorous safety checks on every toy and promote fair and ethical working practices.

This is well made, strong, great fun. My son loves it. Love all the wooden tools, lots to do with it. Highly recommend it. I originally gave it 5 stars but dropped a star because the two cogs broke soon after. All other parts perfect and tough.

I bought this toy for my 21 months old daughter cause she likes to be busy with her hands and she is good at it, so I thought this toy would be nice for her since it added an extra challenge for her (using the screws and such). She really likes it, when she plays on her own she tries to build the gears in order to move them or stacks the nails in the holes with other pieces but if Im there with her its better cause I can guide her through, so its shown that with interaction, this toy can be good for a pre-toddler, still I would recommend children over 2 years old, Im pretty sure my girl will have more fun then.

The pieces are big enough, so even if they put the bolts in their mouth it is highly unlikely and very difficult for them to get them stuck or swallow. Some pieces seem to be of some very sturdy plastic (the one that it comes in the hammer for example), its very well glued, my daughter is rough when playing and all the pieces are intact. The wood is of a nice quality, the toy doesnt smell bad neither smells strongly like painting. The colors dont fade when the pieces are thrown or hammered really hard, etc. so it seems the colors will be durable, its bright and pretty just like in the picture. The holes were slightly smaller than the nail bodies, for ie. if you put the nail it would be extremaly hard to take it off at first, so I put the nails and hammered them all through a couple of times to make the holes a bit more wide and now they are good to play with.

All the tools DO work with all the pieces, this is to be noted since other toolboxes I saw had nails and such but the screwdrivers wouldnt work neither the wrenches.

This is a great size for my (nearly) 2 year old to carry about and the tools are made from a nice wood with smoothed edges. You can screw the bolts and lugs through the holes on the case and the spanner does actually fit to turn them.

What is really really disappointing is the colour. I specifically chose this item as I loved the pastel colourway, but be warned it's not as shown in the picture - it's all primary colours green, blue, red, yellow and the 2 bolts are plastic. My partner thinks it's still great and I'm being over fussy, but I was really disappointed and would have preferred to see the real item I was buying.

This is a perfect example of what kids toys should be like! solid and well made none of that plastic rubbish that costs a fortune and breaks within minutes! The colours were lovely and bold and my nephew loved it! Immediatly begun to carry his little wooden tools with him everywhere. Perfect!

I bought this for my nearly-3-year-old grand-daughter and she absolutely loves it; it is sturdy and takes quite a hammering (joke intended!) Good good buy
