Hanson Stainless Steel Platform Electronic Scales are a very nice set of scales which are very pleasing to the eye, very easy to store and easy to use.
They measure in pounds and ounces, fluid ounces, kilograms and grams also milliliters(ml) for liquid measurements. I find all these measurement very handy to get as all you have to do is put on top of the scale the container you are using for your ingredients which you want to measure. Then press the button which is a solid round raised button and very easy to press compared to my last set of scales. My last scales I did not like at all as I found when I pressed the area required to turn the scales on as it was a totally flat button with no raised edges it was hard to control the different measurements required as and when I found the measurement I required it always moved unto the next measurements very quickly. It just seemed to fly through the different measurements when I touched the button or was extremely difficult to turn on. With the Hanson Stainless Steel Platform Electronic Scales all is needed is a very quick tap to the on switch on the right hand side, the scales turn on immediately and then use the opposite button on the left hand side of the scales are pressed lightly to convert the different weight measurements. When you have put on a bowl or container on the silver platform which is very solid and a good size for larger plates or bowls, the scales when turned on will turn on at zero, which I also like about these scales as my old scales I had to set the measurement myself to zero.
Another good thing about these scales which I also prefer is that when measuring multiple ingredients, after noting what weight I had on the display press the right hand button very lightly and this will bring display back to Zero. After proceeding in the same manner for all the ingredients the display at one time will only show weight of current ingredients until removing all of the ingredients the negative number on the display will show the weight off all ingredients which are in the container. I find this particularly helpful especially for working out total weight of products. If you want total weight of ingredients you must place container for ingredients on scale before turning the scales on.
The display is in length measuring 4cm (centi-meters) and in depth 1.5cm. The display comes up very clearly and in small letters the measurement details what you wish to measure your ingredients eg. (g=gram) etc is on the right hand side of the display. This is the only complaint I have for these scales the measurement details are in very small lettering compared to the actual numbers showing weight of products, I found these details hard to see but the actual numbers are large and very clear which is the main requirement for the scales. I have to admit my eyesight is not good so this might annoy me but to other customers be of adequate size of lettering.
Another plus for me is that the scales measure in pound and ounces(the old measurements) also the fluid ounces and they actually measure in fractions(e.g. 1/8 of pound or ounce) which makes these measurement very exact. The fact that they measure in pounds and ounces is a great help as it saves me converting measurements when using some of my old cookery books also other old recipes which I have which belonged to my Mother. Though for those that prefer the new metric system these scales are suitable too. Therefore I would recommend these to both different styles of cooks etc. They also turn off automatically if left unused for a short period of time approximately one minute.
These are very handy scales, they are good too look at and very easy to store. This is one set of scales which I do recommend also the service I received from Amazon was excellent as usual. One thing which I have noticed after using them now constantly every day for one week the scales will turn off if you do not put on another ingredient before one minute has passed. I did find this inconvenient but if you have all your ingredients sitting beside the scales this should not be a problem. I just had to get myself better organised which is not a bad thing.
