Enjoy! 22 Jan 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is an offshoot of Ann Purser's Round Ringford series (not the Lois Meade mysteries as stated in your Product Description and suggested in the review by Louiseog!!!). In the RR series, Ivy got together with 2 pals every week for tea and cakes and a good gossip.....the friends have now died. Ivy also spoke to her dead mother as if she were still living with her....so she was a bit weird!
Ivy is a really cantankerous old spinster but also has a sharp intelligence. She is now in a nursing home and from there she manages to solve a mystery with the help of a niece and friends. Most enjoyable....as are all the Round Ringford books as well as the Lois Meade series. I prefer the Ringford to Meade but that is just a matter of taste....All the books are enjoyable. I hope there will be lots more books featuring the irritating but strangely loveable Miss Ivy Beasley.

For those of use who have enjoyed Agatha Raisin and Simon Brett as I do, think I may have discovered another author!
Ann Purser has written two series of detective books, Lois Meade and Ivy Beasley series are village mysteries with a similar style and tone to Beaton. Lois Meade is a cleaner/police informant who juggles family life with solving murders! Ivy Beasley is in a nursing home and uses her experience to help solve a murder with three other sleuths. Not difficult to read or taxing on my Christmased brain but good fun and well worth a try.

village mystery 10 Mar 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I loved this first in the series of Ivy Beasley mysteries. What an excelllent idea to give Ivy her own series! She is just as grumpy and imperious as ever but showing her age and vulnerability now. Her new friends in the village are a delight too, a real mixed bunch who keep the retirement home staff on their toes!
Please Ann Purser do keep up the good work with Ivy, I'm sure she will be a great success.
