I was fascinated by this story because Jessica Mann's plot is gripping, her style is compelling and all the people and places, above all the atmospheres, seemed so real. In fact the whoile thing stayed nagging away at me till I had read it another couple of times, which is quite something for a crime story.

Lots of clever twists and turns, and some brilliantly realised characters. I loved the scenes set with a cult in the desert, and the feminist undercurrents.
