A viola, assorted percussion and a wonderful version of New Orders Blue Monday make this a bizzare but worthy addition to anyones collection. Real foot stamping driving beats, mixed with psychedelic/industrial bits. Not quite 5 stars but close.

I'll be marching, and I'll bring my scuba gear too! 9 Sept. 2004
By Jonathan S. Roberts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Yes, this is another constellation release. And yes, it's quite ineffably great. Though there are only two members of hangedup in comparison to the collectives of gy!be, and larger acts like do make and fly pan am, hangedup still get the job done and they do it quite well. I feel a little stupid say this but: this music makes you want to move. Particularly "winternational" and "bring yr. scuba gear," which I believe efrim contributes for a nice "what the hell is that?" kind of guitar noise. Even though it's a little short and is pretty bare, the album still moves you-just in a different way. After numerous listens you'll start to wonder what all is going on, and how only two people, a vioist and percussionist, could mesh together what seems to be so little and come up with so much. The more I listen, I'm pretty convinced that ANYthing that comes from constellation is of the highest quality. And despite the cost going from 10 to $12 flat, the price is still very modest, especially compared to whatever you'll pay on here ($14 or something? hmmmmmmmmm). Highest recommendation if you feel like taking a tour through a well maintained machine and listening sounds that sound like they were ment just for you.

Organic and metallic 7 Jun. 2008
By IRate - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Considering the limited arsenal this drum and violin duo deal in and despite much of that jamming repeating itself thematically, Hangedup's brief self-titled manages to dig deep. Anyone familiar with Constellation's releases of various GYBE side projects will feel right at home with the minimalist dread.

Thoughtful, experimental and great repetitive rhythms. It helps me escape.
