Format: Audio CD
This was my first Charley Patton CD. I had CDs already of Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Lemon Jefferson and other delta blues artists but had none of this artist. I was aware that he was one of the fathers of Delta Blues and so what kind of blues fanatic would i be without at least one disc of Charley Pattern? I was very curious to hear his music to see how it changed the development of the blues and i had high expectations from the 'Godfather of the Delta Blues'.

I wasnt disappointed. This disc contains most of Charley Pattern's most well known songs. His guitar work is suberb and fills the gap between the heavy, percussive style of Son House and the sophisticated, subtler style of Robert Johnson. But his vocals are also distinctive and very powerful.

I would recommend Charlie Pattern as an artist to anyone interested in the early blues. This album serves as a good introduction to the 'Godfather of The Delta Blues'
