5.0 out of 5 stars Weaving Book 8 Aug 2012
By sonia
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is one of the best purchases I have ever made! I am thrilled with it. The book is amazing if you are a weaver, tons of patterns to experiment with some of which are simple, others more tricky. It's keeping me very busy!!! And considering the average price for this book seemed to be £70 for a brand new copy and £40 for a used copy, this purchase for me was just incredible as I paid £14 and it's in perfect condition. To be completely honest it looks brand new so I am very happy! :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality 10 July 2012

Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Having purchased this as a 'second hand' book I am amazed at its condition.

The binding has no scratches, tears or wear and even the edges of the pages show no sign of age or corner turning. Thrilled to bits with it.

The only problem now is to decide which pattern to start with. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars If there is one book every weaver should own it is this one. 15 Sep 1998
By Daniel Waits - Published on
Truly, this is the book every weaver should have. Why? It contains, in a simple manner, many of the basic patterns used by every weaver. The instructions, tie-ups, draw downs - well, every aspect of this book makes the weaving of the time honored and time tested patterns a fairly easy process. So much of weaving refers to patterns that are within the cover of this book. Ms. Davison's work to preserve the ageless patterns is well worth the price. Buy it, read it, use it, and pass it on to someone you love in your will.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only 4-harness pattern book you'll ever need!!! 4 Jan 2003
By Dr. Susan M. Whitefeather - Published on
I have been using this book for over 15 years. It is easy to find the perfect pattern for a weaving project, and you only have to be able to follow a very simple diagram to do the tieup and weave. Many other books have entered and left my studio over the past 15 years....this is the only one I have kept......sw

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything 2 Sep 2002
By WeaverGrace - Published on
I grew up with this book, and still consider it the most important one in my collection. It contains photos, threading, tie-down and treadling for nearly every type of 4 harness weave, plus each chapter begins with valuable general information about the weaves in that chapter.

It is a great book when you want a no-nonsense reference.

This is the book no weaver should be without. It is THE foundation of a weaver's library! May it never go out of print.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is "IT" for every weaver, new or experienced. 23 Nov 2013
By Julie W. Snyder - Published on
This book is "IT". I have been weaving for 50 years and it is still my "Go To" book for starting any project. Because it is in black and white the creativity is all "You". I have woven wall hangs, placemats, rugs, table runners, baby blankets, jackets, liturgical hangings and altar cloths with patterns in this book. It's just a great starting place.

This collection of patterns by Davison is so special to the craft of weaving. The short histories and backgrounds of our handwoven textiles contained in this one book speaks volumes - it will be in use for generations to come. I can't think of another book that has even come close to this one.
