Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Treo 270 communicator lets you do it all-in full colour-with one of the smallest Palm OS devices on the market.

The Treo 270 communicator is not much larger than a deck of cards. But don't let its small size fool you. It's jam-packed with powerful features that never compromise functionality or ease of use. Like a full colour screen that makes everything easier to read. A convenient backlit keyboard for simple nighttime use. Plus, a rocker switch for convenient one-handed navigation. And that's just the beginning.

The Treo 270 communicator has everything you expect in a mobile phone. And more. Start with a dual-band GSM 900-1800 phone. Factor in speed dial, three way calling and call history. Then include a ton of extra features, like full integration with the built-in PhoneBook, a personal speakerphone and free headset for hands-free operations, a backlit keyboard for evening calling, and so much more.

With 16 MB of memory and a blazing processor, the rechargeable Treo 270 communicator has it all—Date Book Plus, PhoneBook (an improved Address Book), To Do List, Memo Pad, and more. Plus, you can install thousands of other colour-enabled Palm OS applications, including games, photo viewers, document editors and much more. Already have another Palm OS device? No worries. It's a breeze to transfer your existing data to your new Treo 270 communicator.

Send and receive. Email and short messages. And do it all wirelessly. Now it's easy to read and send email from virtually anywhere. Plus, our new Treo Mail service (sold separately) makes it even easier to keep up with your email inbox—even when it's a corporate account behind a firewall.

Now you can access the web from just about everywhere—in full colour. Every Treo 270 communicator comes with Blazer—our award-winning wireless web browser-so you can surf virtually any web site, not just those sites optimised for mobile access. Get directions, confirm your reservations, check the weather—and see it all in brilliant colour on the Treo 270 communicator's organiser-sized screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for me, 21 Nov 2003
By Frank Dernie (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have used a Treo270 for over a year now. I used to carry a Palm and a small phone - now I only have the Treo. I do not use a phone a huge amount, about 100 to 200 mins per month, but it is there on my Palm when I need it. It is superb for Texts because of the keyboard and intelligent software, it is worth the price just for this - it is impossible to exaggerate how naff a normal phone is for texts in comparison.
Having the other PDA features as well is fantastic.
I also prefer the flip phone style because it protects the screen and avoids the tedious routine of keyboard locking (I hate that).
The only irritation for me is that it automatically reverts to phone mode if you open it to switch on. I use mine more as a pda than phone so this is irritating, though I am slowly getting use to switching it on before opening - which puts you where you were when you switched off - as usual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handspring Treo 270, 27 Aug 2003
The Handspring Treo 270 fits snugly into the palm of your hand.

It's jam packed with features, but so far I've found the to-do list the most useful - reminding me to do things by an alarm at a pre-set time. OK, compared with other phones it's not the cheapest, at £325 - but some phones are more expensive and weigh about the same.

The keypad looks a bit small - but it's actually quite easy to use and the screen is very sensitive to the stylus.

But the real test with a gadget like this is whether it's just a novelty item - or has a real long-term use.

To me the Treo seems to be a novelty item - yet it is a good novelty item! It works well, and is easy to get to grips with.

And, seeing as it is priced to be competative with other sim-free phones, it is well worth the purchase.

All in all, a good buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 12 Jan 2004
By A Customer
Fantastic unit. I've had Psions & Palms and have replaced them all with more uptodate models but I really fell in love with the treo.

I couldn't stand using Graffiti on the palms.
They keyboard is excellent - don't let the size fool you - although the keyboards are a little pointy and numb your thumbs after a while.
The screen is smaller than the palms/handsprings but adequate.
The flip is annoying but you get used to it after a while.
The integrated phone is good but the software isn't as integrated as it should be. I keep my SIM in my Nokia phone and only put it in the Treo when I want to look at emails/text.

My screen has broken and I am replacing the whole unit. I guess this is testimony to how useful it's been!
