A beautiful little book to read but I felt there was not a huge choice of poems that could be read aloud at a Christening, particularly if the congregation are not Scottish. 31 poems in total. 3 of them in Gaelic. 11 in Auld Scots. 3 specifically for boys. 4 for girls. One from the baby's point of view - amusing but not that appropriate to read at a baptism. Some from the mother's point of view - Setting Sail by Lydia Robb absolutely beautiful but I challenge any mother to stand up and read it aloud without getting emotional. We had a shortlist of 5 of the 31 poems.
