5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good 22 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase
Read a lot of reviews around the net of this type of can opener before deciding on this one

Just make sure you have batteries 4 X AA Leakproof as none are supplied

which is probably good as I have had goods delivered recently with the batteries leaking

The first can we opened was a very modern supermarket own brand tin eg lightweight and
it opened perfectly

the second can was an old style heavy steel tin from ALDI'S
at first I thought it will never make it
But I left it to itself and although it took longer ie 2 turns round the can
it still opened perfectly
there were a couple of steel whiskers on the outside of the can but they were very small
less that a matchhead long and hair thin
and wiped off easily
Been it use for a few weeks now and it beats a hand opener

Our M&S mains powered opener which by comparison is rubbish is going to be recycled (1 year old)

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands Free 6 May 2011
This opener was purchased as my wife has damaged her wrists and cannot easily open tins with a conventional can opener. This one works very well and just does the job automatically. It rarely opens on one pass but once this is realised you just leave it to rotate its way around the can. It easily deals with the 'squared' shape of corned beef tins but now we open both ends which makes extracting the contents so much easier than poking around with a knife to ease the meat from the can's sides. We even use it on ring pull cans.

This is a great kitchen device for those who have trouble or difficulty in opening cans. It is neat and tidy and does a really good job.

5.0 out of 5 stars JML Automatic/Electric Hands Free Can opener 4 April 2011
The first time that I used this, I was at first disappointed, as, although the can opener had done a complete revolution of the top of the can that I was opening, when I removed the opener from the top of the can, it did not appear to have done anything.
But I was wrong. The top of the can had been removed with "surgical precision", and after lifting the top off, the cut was very neat with no sharp edges on either the top of the can nor on the lid.
Very impressed thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars JML automatic can opener 4 April 2011

I was totally flummoxed as to what type of can opener to purchase when my sturdy manual butterfly can opener packed up. I had plenty of tins to open and no opener, I needed a replacement and fast!... I have recently started having problems with my hands and fingers, so I THOUGHT, TIME FOR A CHANGE, buy electric. I didnt know what option to go for, but when I saw this make and model, and read all the reviews, I soon had my answer. I'm glad I did choose this option,It's a very easy opener to use, takes 4 aaa batteries but is certainly worth it. As it says, "one touch action" and the jobs done...No more scratched knuckles or cut fingers, as once opened, the lid stays attached to the magnet on the opener.. Easy peasy ...
I would definitely recommend this item to anyone who has difficulty using butterfly openers, and people who have problems using their hand and fingers... a definite 5/5 for me.....JML Automatic & Electric Hands Free Can / Tin Opener - One Touch Action

Whilst this tin opener is hands free and one touch I was disappointed with its low power and how slowly it operates. I often have to repeat the cutting action before I am able to open the tin.

1.0 out of 5 stars does not work 18 Sep 2011
By jknig
In my view there is a profound design and engineering fault with this item. I was sent what I believe is the old version of the JML can opener, it hinges to fit on the can, but despite this, the cutting edge does not touch the tin wall and does not therefore cut into the can and does not remove the can top. the image of the opener on amazon was of the new version not the old one, so I am rather disappointed.

Perhaps the new style JML can opener work wonderfully, but be sure you do not purchase the old version, it is an expensive kitchen decoration.

one star only because I cant leave no star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! It doesn't cut it breaks the seal!!
Just to make this clear the Tin opener doesn't actually cut the tin to open it, it pushes and bends the edge of the seal to break the original crimped seal. Read more
