HASH(0x911034f8) out of 5 stars A romance full of unanticipated twists and turns 4 Sept. 2012
By Sis Steele - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Choosing between two heroes is a common theme in romance. But having to choose between three when the heroine's heart belongs to no one? In Handpicked Husband, the first book in the Texas Grooms series, Griggs ingeniously introduces the reader to many intriguing men who are heroes in the making. Who will the heroine, Regina Nash, choose or will she succeed in getting out of a forced marriage? And what about the fourth man, Adam Barr, who is there to see the marriage happens and just happens to capture her heart? Unexpected twists make this romance a true page-turner from beginning to end. Handpicked Husband is a lesson in how an author can ramp up the reader's anticipation for a new series while keeping a solid focus on the growing romance between a smart, intriguing heroine and a dashing hero who is torn between his feelings and his responsibilities. Can't wait for the next in the series.

HASH(0x9110354c) out of 5 stars Texas Grooms Book 1 31 Aug. 2012
By Jutzie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Handpicked Husband by Winnie Griggs
Texas Grooms Book 1
Adam Barr wants to find who set him up and clear his name. He had been an up and coming lawyer and ended up falsely accused and spent the past six years in prison, losing everything. The one person who stood by him the whole time was Judge Madison. So when the Judge asked Adam to take three men from Philadelphia to Turnabout, Texas so his granddaughter could choose one to marry....he did. Of course nothing in his life was ever easy and this hoyden surely wouldn't make it any easier.

Regina "Reggie" Nash was happy. At twenty-three years of age she had decided to be a spinster aunt to young Jack. She has been taking care of him since Patricia, her step-sister passed away. Since the passing of her brother-in-law four months ago...Reggie has taken of full responsibility for the six year old. Telling her grandfather that she wanted to adopt Jack seemed like a non-issue until he sent the handsome Adam to Texas with an ultimatum. Marry one of the three men Adam had with him or lose Jack.

I enjoy all of this author's books, this one included. It made me laugh and even brought a few tears. She brings her characters to life. Three men who really don't want to get married but have been offered a deal too good to refuse. A young woman who has her own secrets and reasons not to marry. And a man carrying a chip on his shoulder with revenge on his mind. Some of the towns people come to life as well. The gossip and snooty woman who thinks no man can refuse her. Looking forward to the rest of this historical series.

HASH(0x91f65c6c) out of 5 stars Handpicked! 24 Sept. 2012

SUCH A GREAT STORY! I love how this author writes and creates her characters. I will definitely be looking for more of her books. This was a book that was hard to put down. I loved the witty, intelligent, could-be charming, nurturing, and humorous main character and what she puts her suitors through.

I was about 3/4 of the way through this book and expected the love story to wrap up...couldn't see how she would have enough story for another 1/4 of the book. There is definitely a twist in the story toward the end that I did not expect, but keeps you interested.

Great clean romance story with imperfect characters. That's real life right?! At least as close as a good romance book could be.

HASH(0x91a5e2d0) out of 5 stars Handpicked Husband 13 Aug. 2014
By lighthouse88 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Regina Nash is faced with a choice. She either marries one of the three men her grandfather sent as suitors or she loses her nephew. Her grandfather thinks she needs to have a husband in order to raise a child as well as to look after her. She is living in the small town of Turnabout, Texas while her grandfather resides in Philadelphia. She wants nothing to do with marriage and likes her independent life just the way it is. However, she will do whatever it takes to keep her nephew so she reluctantly signs the contract brought by her father’s man, Adam Barr. Too bad Adam isn’t putting himself forward as a potential suitor as she thinks he would make a good father. She has known Adam for about seven years and had a crush on him when she was a teenager. Now, she has a strategy mapped out that will hopefully discourage the suitors to return to the East Coast and leave her in peace.
Adam Barr wants nothing more than for this three-week trial to be over. He is anxious to get back to Philadelphia to clear his name. He was wrongly convicted of embezzlement and spent six years in jail. He knows who the guilty party is, but he must find proof before making any accusations. He lost everything as a result of his imprisonment…his law practice, his home, his fiancée. He wants nothing to do with Regina Nash and her husband quandary, but he owes Judge Madison, Regina’s grandfather, as he is the only man in Philadelphia to stand by him throughout his legal troubles, still believing him innocent of the charges. Adam admires Regina’s spirit and dedication to her nephew, but he will uphold the contract no matter what as he gave the Judge his word. However, Regina’s decision must be made in two weeks and what she decides throws everyone for a curve.
Reading this book was a great way to spend my Saturday afternoon. The plot was not complicated, the characters were likeable and the outcome a forgone conclusion, but I sure enjoyed the journey getting to the end. This is a light historical romance with a Christian theme, which I endorse wholeheartedly. The next book in the series is titled, The Bride Next Door, and I will be reading and reviewing that book soon on this blog. This is a feel-good romance that will leave readers smiling at the end.

HASH(0x91103a14) out of 5 stars Not Your Typical Arranged Marriage Story 29 July 2013
By Britt98 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is not your typical arranged marriage story. Regina finds herself being forced to choose a husband from among three suitors that her grandfather has sent to her small town. If she does not choose a husband within three weeks, her grandfather will take guardianship of her nephew and send him to boarding school. Adam Barr is the man that Regina's grandfather has sent to oversee the marriage choice and he impatiently waits for Regina to decide.

I have to admit that the first half of the story moved a little slowly to me. It was enjoyable and interesting, and it is when the courting was going on between the suitors and Regina. I simply wondered if the story was going to pick up the pace. Once I made it a little over halfway through the book, Regina made her choice, and oh boy! The pace really picked up and this became a book that I had trouble putting down. In fact, I stayed up late into the night to finish it! Secrets were revealed and a whole lot of tension erupted! I definitely recommend this story to readers of Christian romance. This book is the beginning of the series and I look forward to reading the other books.
