Robyn - Behind the scenes of "Dancing on My Own"

She is Robyn. The most killingest pop star on the planet. A pint-sized atom bomb dosed to the tits on electric and dispensing wisdom in three-minute modernist pop bulletins on the post-adolescent condition.

The dust has barely had time to settle since the arrival of Body Talk 1, the first instalment of Robyn's ambitious three-part album release plan for this year. Lead single Dancing ... Read more in Amazon's Robyn Store

3.0 out of 5 stars In defense of a slightly weird lyric choice 14 Feb 2008
Format:Audio CD
Just had to comment on the "nazi creep" line mentioned above - if there's anyone who knows about Nazi creeps, it's the Swedes. Stockholm (which is quite urban, a city of several million) has a large skinhead population, and it's pretty intimidating. So don't dismiss Robyn as a hick just because her home country's far away from LA. And yes, the talk of "cribs" does sound odd in the mouths of scandinavians, but it actually does happen in real life these days, what with MTV now being older than a lot of the people making music out there...sorry.
Beyond that, I liked "heartbeat" better, too. Although the vocal is a bit of a Kate Bush wannabe, don't you think?

2.0 out of 5 stars Catchy, but frankly, odd ! 18 Nov 2007
Format:Audio CD
After the prog-rock stylings of "With Every Heartbeat", this is a rather odd follow-up in a faux-urban style. Problem is, Robyn is very obviously Swedish & while this song might have suited an urban act, Robyn's attempts at hip-hop English are frankly rather odd - Robyn's accent and unfamiliarity with the territory robs this song of any credibility it could ever have. It's catchy enough and has some nice hooklines in the chorus, but seriously how many "Nazi creeps" would be "writing those rhymes" and "living large with your crib" - does Robyn even know what "Nazi" means ?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the BPM version 8 April 2008
By T. Raymond - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is not the mix version on BPM (XM Radio). It sounds dramatically different, and not in the good way. It also is edited (clean version).
