Book Description

10 Sep 2010 1841847372 978-1841847375 4
The management of the pregnant woman with a medical problem presents the clinician with particular problems. An understanding of how a medical disease affects pregnancy and how any pre-existing medical condition is affected by pregnancy is required. In addition the clinician must take into account the second patient - the fetus - and be aware of how drug therapy and management strategies may influence fetal well-being.

With tables, bullet points and boxes of key points, this text deals with the most common and serious medical conditions encountered in pregnancy, with a chapter for each system including heart disease, hypertension, thromboembolism, diabetes, skin problems, and gastrointestinal disease. With substantially updated chapters, this text is mainly in handy note form and concentrates on the differential diagnosis of common symptoms, signs and biochemical abnormalities encountered in pregnancy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for antenatal clinics 24 Nov 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a "best kept secret" of obstetric registrars in antenatal clinic. It gives concise, easily readable and practical advice about pretty much all conditions you could be expected to manage in pregnancy. Highly recommended, choose this rather than the (in my opinion) far inferior "Maternal Medicine" by the same author which has much the same content but in a significantly less accessible format.

5.0 out of 5 stars Punchy and to the point 30 Dec 2013

Using this for revision, learnt loads already. A must for all medics and obstetricians alike. Wish amazon would discount the print version if you already have the kindle version though.

4.0 out of 5 stars print vs digital 14 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great book - very informative...however this book is not ideal for digital/kindle because there are tables and guides that I would prefer to be able to flip back and forward to for quick reference to aid everyday practice. Can't fault the book but I wish I had spent the extra 10 and got it in print.
