I'm a beginner in model rocketry. In fact, I haven't even had a flight yet. My rockets are sitting at home waiting for some good weather. I've spent some time talking to people on forums, and reading the information on various rocketry sites, so I'm aware of the basics.
This book arrived yesterday and seems to fill in all the blanks, as well as explaining the basics I already knew very well. The author is careful to allow for possible changes in the future, and also impresses upon the reader the importance of safety without overdoing it and asounding like a nagging old-timer.

All relevant areas of the hobby are covered, from using the Ready To Fly kits to making a rocket from scratch, all types of rocket motor, recovery systems etc.

I've already learnt a lot from this book and I'm only halfway through. I would definitely recommend to this to anyone starting out in model rocketry, and probably to more experienced people as well.

I was very pleased with this book; as a beginner it covers all the areas needed to construct and fly your own rocket, with lots of additional information for those who want to learn further.

This book is definitely one of the best purchases I have made towards my hobby and interest in model rocketry. This Bible of rocketry as it may be better (or more appropriately) known has pretty much everything you need to get you started on your way to launching rockets as well as the fundamentals of designing your own! It also includes a chapter on aeroynamics and how to work out stability and and other important coefficients that you may find useful.

Ultimately as far as getting your started and maybe seeing you well through the majority of your rocketry career, this book is perfect, however if you are looking for something a little more 'hard core' and far more mathematically in depth and complete then you should have a look at a book called 'Topics in Advanced Model Rocketry' however the price tag is a bit on the expensive side for this more advanced book, making the Handbook of Model Rocketry a fantastic starting place while you find your feet in the subject

All in all though a superb book and one that is very easy reading and flows well.
