This book is really useful I found, especially if you are looking for ideas and simple ways to make changes in the garden. I wanted to keep and attract the wildlife visitors that I like observing: birds, mammals etc. It made me think about all the creatures and also wild plants in the garden and the beautiful photos made identifying them easy and fun. I've recommended it to friends including a family, wildlife watchers and gardeners as it is interesting and useful to all of them and has been a greatly loved gift. How much better I spot things now with a little bit more knowledge about their habits and the hidden lives under the leaves, stones and in the borders.

Covers everything you would expect to find in your garden, plus things you may never see. Tells you what food and habitat each creature likes, together with a photo for identification. There is also a monthly guide of things to see and jobs to do in the garden to encourage wildlife. I got this book as a free gift on joining the RSPB but bought another copy for my partner as she was so impressed by it. Would recommend as a convenient guide to anyone interested in wildlife

One of the problems with wildlife is that there are so many species I always end up struggling to identify things. This book is really handy to have as a source and it provides some basic information on each creature. The images and text are well printed and clear. The book is suitable for many different age groups or needs and is a handy size without being too small. In short it does what is says in the title and is pretty comprehensive. A well thought out book that deserves its 5-star rating.
