5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for the newly qualified!, 5 Dec 2003
As a recently qualified staff nurse, I wanted a drug book that wasn't as complicated as the BNF or paediatric formulary. This is the one. Very simple and easy. All drugs are listed in A-Z, rather than what type of drug they are. This makes it easier quick use or for newly qualified staff like me.

Pocket sized (unlike a lot of nursing books)makes it easier to carry round and it fits nicely into the pocket of my scrubs.

At the back it has small sections on: routes of administration, compatibilty of drugs, inotropes, resus drugs, and also what drugs to use in various situations, such as status epilepticus.

It also has quite an extensive section on how drug doses should be altered in patients with renal insufficiency.

I would say that this book is a must, not only for HDU/ITU staff but also for staff nurses on the ward.

Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it!, 22 Nov 2004
By A Customer
This is a fantastic little book; it has all the A-Z stuff on drugs you'd expect with clear advice about all of them and is very user-friendly. It also has lots of handy stuff at the back eg. which inotropes affect which receptors and resulting systems and drug compatibility tables (when sharing lines) plus a lot of the stuff you'd been told and either forgotten or written down and lost.

Easy to read and use, handy pocket size, packed with info and its a bargain too. I love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Handbook of Drugs in Intensive Care: An A-Z Guide [Paperback, 4 Feb 2006
By A Customer
I purchased this book for my daughter who has recently qualified as a Staff Nurse and is working full time at a local hospital. Technically the book is very good. However, one review stated the book was 'pocket size' and could be carried easily around even in Nurse's 'Scrubs'. This is not true and so the book is left at home on a shelf.
