Review

Debby Holloway, RGN, BA, MSc- Nursing Standard, January 2005
"This is an excellent book, written by a nurse for nurses. It is essential reading for anyone who works in this field and in this area where clients need advice about contraception. This is a practical and easy to read book, and the appendices contain useful advice and a list of sexual helath organisations and thier contact details."

Product Description

This handbook offers sound, up-to-date, practical information and advice about the complete spectrum of approaches to contraception and reproductive sexual health. It gives detailed explanation of all contraceptive methods, including how to use them, contra-indications, interactions and the anxieties clients may have. Some of the problems encountered are highlighted and suggestions given as to how these may be resolved. This is the only current book on contraception written by a nurse and it discusses the role of the professional in detail.

I found this book invaluable for the course I was on and hope that a new edition is in the pipeline. It is clearly written and the examples are set out in an easy to follow format.

I am currently undertaking a course in family planning/contraception and I have used this book for reflections and I know I will also be using it for the assignment too. Easy to use and understand but covers a wide variety of contraception information, would definately recommend!
