Working as a Laboratory Supervisor in a Pathology Laboratory it is hard to find a nice handbook that doesn't begin with one discipline and end there too. This particular Oxford Handbook is an absolute must to sit beside your computer or microscope. It covers just enough of on each topic without overloading, which is a great asset for those who just want to know what it is, rather than its complete life story. Personally I purchased this with the new edition of the Oxford Handbook of Medical Sciences, and find them to be a perfect set for someone working in a Pathology Laboratory. There are some other great books out there, but honestly if you are starting out a collection - please start here.
