Book Description

1 April 2013 1451176155 978-1451176155 7th revised North American ed
The Handbook of Clinical Anesthesia, Seventh Edition, closely parallels Clinical Anesthesia, Seventh Edition, and presents the essential information found in the larger text in a concise, portable format. Extensive changes made to the parent textbook are reflected in the Handbook; chapters have been completely updated and a new chapter covering anesthesia for laparoscopic and robotic surgeries has been added. The Handbook makes liberal use of tables and graphics to enhance rapid access to information. This comprehensive, pocket-sized reference guides you through virtually every aspect of perioperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care. Inside You'll Find: step-by-step procedures to administer anesthesia for cardiac surgery, obstetric surgery, minimally invasive procedures, chronic pain management, and more; ASA guidelines for patient care and safety included; robust appendices include formulas, Atlas of Electrocardiography, Pacemaker and ICD Protocols, American Heart Association resuscitation protocols, ASA Standards and Guidelines, difficult airway algorithms, malignant hyperthermia protocol, and herbal medications; and, a clear, consistent writing style that makes critical material easy to locate and comprehend. New to the Seventh Edition: a new chapter covering Anesthesia for Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeries has been added; and, two new appendices - Atlas of Electrocardiography and Pacemaker and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator Protocols.

1.0 out of 5 stars mistakes 2 Sep 2013
By ebeahem - Published on Amazon.com
there are many mistakes in this book, even its a 7th edition, for example see page 346 table 22-22 under antibiotic selection: Vancomycin(anaerobic and gram-negative microbes),,,,,,,,,, its not gram negative its gram positive, how come we can find such a mistake in this 7th edition???!!! i don't think i can trust other information mentioned in this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars No index in the Kindle version! A non-starter for a medical handbook. 4 May 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kindle version's index is just a nested list of words. No locations. No links.
When word searches return too many hits, your stuck guessing and scanning.
Not good for clinicians who need quick information.
Hopefully the next edition will fix this.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Barash... without the fluff. 20 May 2013
By American Dad - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
"Baby Barash" has all the information you need from the full-length size Clinical Anesthesia textbook without all the historical background, studies, etc. For an anesthesia handbook, this is a pretty comprehensive work. Not sure how much changed from 6th to 7th edition, but this one is good. I have the textbook version of 6th edition and now this handbook version of the 7th. Barash is great, but please, for the sake of your patients, never lean on just one source!
