A must have. 9 July 2009
Format:Hardcover
For anyone that is seriously interested in canine behaviour, health, genetics etc, this book is a must have. In particular, anyone studying towards canine qualifications will find many of the need to know aspects right here. Occasionally, you will not find what you need, but looking at Volume two or Three should help. Personally I have all three of the 'Handbook of applied dog behavior and training' books and altough somewhat expensive, I am very glad I purchased them. They have served me very well as I study Canine Behaviour.
Excellent, Five stars from me.

By J.F
Format:Hardcover
I have used all three volumes of this book several times on my animal behavioural science degree (borrwed from university library), if you are doing a degree in animal behaviour or a related subject i would highly recommend this book, i haven't found anything else that really compares or is at the same standard while being as easy to use. Its scientific enough for use on a degree but it is still easy to understand (for me - this book would be a too heavy for a casual dog owner looking to sort out a small behaviour problem as this has all the science behind it as well, and you probably will need a scientific background to understand some of it)

So these books are not for everyone as it isnt a 'light read' but if you are looking for something scientific without it being a load of jargon that you can't understand then these are the books to get. They are expensive, but are an investment if you want to go into dog behaviour for a career, as i do. They are so good that i have bought all three volumes so i have copies at home to save me from taking them out the library all the time! Volume 1 is about how dogs learn (which casual owners would not really need to buy or use) but volumes 2 and 3 are about the cause and solution for solving behaviour problems, so you could get away with just getting volumes 2 and 3 if you are worried about buying all three them being too expensive if you are just looking into problem dog behaviour.

Dog trainer's bible 16 Mar 2010
Format:Hardcover
This book is a great introduction for anyone who is interested in dog training / behaviour problem. I need to use dictionary to have better understanding because it is a technical publication. HIghly recommended.
