Product Description

The goal of this book is to apply the principles of acoustics to the audio arts. This involves serving as an interpreter of major trends and the literature for students and practitioners in the audio field. Along with covering the more theoretical aspects of acoustics, the book applies the theory to the design of specialized audio spaces such as the home listening room, the control room, and the multi-track-recording studio.

This book is very well explained but lacks that which some may hope for from a book entitled 'The Master Handbook of Acoustics'.
If you are an 'acoustic enthusiast' and a knowledge of acoustic concepts is important to you, then, this would be worth buying - maybe an undergraduate physics/engineering student might also benefit from its approach.
However, if you are someone that wishes to go beyond, getting to the heart of problems like; noise/vibration control and acoustics, you should go for something like Frank Fahy's Engineering Acoustics, Kinsler and Frey, or, if you are up to it!, Pierce...

This book has prooved an excellent guide to help me understand diffusion, diffraction, modal ringing, everything you can think of regarding acoustics is in here. I've learned a great deal about modal ringing and how to create effective bass trapping for my recording studio, it even tells you how to build a diffuser! (if you have the DIY skills). Before reading this book I knew virtually nothing about acoustics, this has given me a solid understanding of the most important aspects, can't fault it at all, it does exactly what it says!

This is a very easy read for anyone who has a small amount of knowledge of acoutics. I used this for a number of assignments for Uni and couldn't have done it without this.
