Highly experienced in paper crafting, painting, and collage, she has co-authored several books on creating greeting cards and calligraphy. I ordered this book hoping it would contain lettering styles I could learn to use in my art journals, and it fits the bill perfectly. A wide variety of alphabets and styles, none of which require that you have a degree in calligraphy, and readily accessible to the amateur like myself. It would also be ideal for the scrapbookers for whom it was intended, but has a far wider potential application. Recommended.

I saw this book in a shop at double the price! The book itself gives clear instructions, nice pictures and examples. But best of all lots of alphabet guides for you to use,to copy, trace or adapt. If you are into any kind of craft, I think you would like this great book.

Was a bit disappointed in this book as I expected it to have more content....Having been to caligraphy classes many years ago and having the basic skills for neat handwriting...as mentioned I expected a little bit more from this book, still it was reasonable and enabled me to brush up on forgotton skills....and gave me some good ideas....

I bought this book as I wanted to learn how to create beautiful hand lettering for my art journals. The book starts with a significant section on materials and different writing implements which I felt was unnecessary. The bulk of the book, in my view, should have been on techniques, not resources. There is a very small part on the structure of letters which is useful, but would have been better if used in conjunction with different lettering styles to teach the reader how to create their own lettering.
The biggest disappointment is the emphasis on TRACING!!! There are lots of lovely examples of full alphabets of hand lettering in the book, but the author suggests you trace and transfer them! If I wanted to do that I could have printed out fonts and traced them! What if I want the lettering a different size? I expected to be taught how to make the different styles of letters. The book would be better titled "Someone else's hand lettering for you to trace". There is no denying the author is a talented calligrapher, but teacher she is not. Very, VERY disappointing.

The standard of the lettering examples in this book is very poor and wish I had sent it back. The book is pretty useless to me and I can't even think of anyone to give it to without insulting their creative abilities!

I am usually really satisfied with everything I purchase on Amazon.
I was very dissapointed with this book. Very old fashioned and looks like it was printed in the 70's.
