All ceramic dishes from Polie Pottery are made in Boleslawiec in Poland, which a town rich in natural white clay resources and renowned worldwide for its premium quality stoneware and its centuries-long pottery making tradition. Our stoneware dishes are decorated by hand by skilled artisans, using sponge stamp as well as brush painting. In the process of making our pottery, firstly clay is mixed and shaped with moulds. Every piece is hand finished by fettling and carefully smoothing all surfaces and attaching small parts such as handles if required. Once fully shaped, every piece is fired in a kiln. Hardened pieces are hand painted with brushes or hand sponged using the underglaze method to ensure extreme durability of all patterns applied, then glazed and fired in a kiln again in a temperature of round 1200°C.This time and labour-intensive process guarantees that every piece is beautiful but also very durable and practical as all pottery from Polie Pottery is dishwasher, microwave, freezer, oven and range cooker safe.
