Product Description

Christmas Club/Hancock's Happy Christmas/Bill and Father Christmas/The Diary Celebrate Christmas in East Cheam with Anthony Aloysius St John Hancock in these four episodes filled with his own unique brand of seasonal cheer. All four of these themed Christmas episodes have been released before on various Hancock Half Hour collections but we are bringing them together in a special edition for the Christmas market. The cover will have a Christmas feel but will tie in with the rest of the Hancock range, which has now sold in excess of 150,000 units. We released a similar Christmas- themed Goons double cassette last year which performed very well, selling 12,000 units. 001 0563478136

Buy this.

Having heard all of these shows previously on the radio & having just bought the cd version to play in the car. I can only say that if you really want to celebrate this is the way to do it.

Although the plots are somewhat dated the pathos that runs through the shows remains relevant today. Truely masterful performances by Hancock, James, Williams ably supported by Jacques & Kerr.

Sit back, enjoy and maybe cry a little - with laughter of course.

In this four episode festive collection from the 1950's, Tony Hancock is joined as usual by Sid James, with Hattie Jacques and Bill Kerr also joining in the fun. As usual "The lad himself" is never funnier than when having a good moan about something.

I've always felt that radio was the best medium for Hancock's Half Hour's intimate brand of comedy, (although the TV series is excellent). "Hancock's Half Hour" it may be, but when combined with Sid James the two form a great double act. My personal favourites here are "The Christmas Club" and "Bill And Father Christmas", but it's an excellent quartet.
Here are a few details of the four episodes:

*HANCOCK'S HAPPY CHRISTMAS - After a less than friendly exchange of words with a group of young Carol singers, Hancock is feeling in less of a festive mood than ever, can Sid cheer him up?

*THE CHRISTMAS CLUB - After last year's Christmas dinner - "turkey feet and chips", Hancock has ample funds saved in a Christmas club to ensure that this year's Christmas will be a real "table creaker", so nothing can go wrong - can it?

*BILL AND FATHER CHRISTMAS - At the tender age of 412 months, a distraught Bill discovers the truth about Father Christmas, everyone is sympathetic - except Hancock.

*THE DIARY - It's another new year and Hancock decides to review his diary, in which he keeps a record of all memorable events.
