Lovely little book with lots of excellent ideas, particularly if, like me, you have a variety of (silicone or other) little moulds for cakelets, muffins, madeleines tartlets and so on.
Of course these can easily be made from recipes for larger cakes but then, it is often difficult to get the cooking times right for the smaller sizes. Here everything is simplified for you and once you have determined if there is a difference between your oven and theirs (if any) you can sail on and enjoy the fun of making theses little beauties.
A word of warning: always make more if you make some for a dinner party as most people will inevitably feel like trying every single type of mini cake you have made ("I haven't tried this one yet" ), temptation will definitely be there!
The book is divided into:
-Cupcakes (white chocolate rasberry cupcakes, maple butter pecan cupcakes, mini Christmas cakes ...)
-Biscuits and cookies (chilli and cardamon morsels and mini orange shortbreads were lovely)
-Slices and traybakes (chocolate blondie bites, tropical ginger cake, sour cherry buns to name a few)
-Pastries
-Meringues and macaroons
-Scones and other little cakes
-Treats for kids (cute decoration ideas on classic little cakes/biscuits)
Although I already have quite a few baking books, I found this one an excellent addition to my collection both for the great variety of baking ideas and the quality of the recipes themselves. Definitely a little winner!
