5.0 out of 5 stars You'll Never Run Out of Curries! 2 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
Two hundred tasty curry recipes in a handy compact book. Great for both beginners and more experienced cooks. I love the wipe clean cover because I am a messy cook! It also includes an excellent vegetarian section. All the recipes I have tried so far have been delicious. Favourites in this house are the Creamy Tandoori Chicken Kebabs and the Chicken & Baby Spinach Curry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick and Easy 4 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
I very simple to follow cookery book. Brilliant explanations, the curries always turn out how they look in the book.
The only thing I would say is that make sure you read the preperation details first as I have been caught out by some ingrediants needing to be marinated for quite a few hours. All in all very good.

3.0 out of 5 stars A handy ready reference for curry 22 Sep 2012
By Ed F TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This is a clever little book. Lots of curry/generic Indian/South Asian food recipes in a perfect "next to the cooker" layout with wipe clean pages and just enough detail to help you assemble a spicy dinner. This isn't a work exploring the underlying philosophies of south Asian food or their cultural and historical context. We all know what curry is and sometimes we just want a recipe. If I have a few concerns it's that some of the recipes appear to be added just to get to the 200 total, curried fish recipes in particular seem a little derivative and some of the others seem a little experimental for my taste. It's a useful tome though and it's a good addition to the series from Hamlyn.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK curry compendium 22 Aug 2012
By Maggie TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I find this cookbook a bit of a hotchpotch. There is no theming by country, so indian, african and far eastern style curries are all mixed up together (well, not literally!). There is a spinach and chicken curry and a chicken and spinach curry - I haven't bothered to examine the difference, although I'm sure there is one. Some of the dishes I would not describe as curries at all, they are just spicy asian style cooking - e.g. monkfish kebabs or minted rack of lamb. There appears to be an overuse of curry powder rather than individual spices. And a general lack of authenticity in the selections. I'm sure I will use one or two of the recipes but you should not approach this book expecting to find many recipes for the curries you get from your local Indian restaurant. On the plus side the illustrations are good, all in colour and the instructions also straightforward.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little curry recipes book 29 Mar 2011

This is a great little book. The recipes are easy and clearly explained. The ingredients needed are usually the ones that are part of your cupboard. I certainly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great little book, with lots of curries! 12 Jan 2010
By Shahin
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
arrived today, was really pleased, contains starters, chicken, pork, lamb, seafood, vegetarian curries. cant believe they managed to squeeze 200 recipe ideas in such a small size book. the recipes are really good, as an indian cook myself i like to search for new recipe ideas and this book is a great start. it contains the basics of curry style ingredients and gives the best of both thai and indian curries. it would have been better if all the recipes were for 'curries' as it contains starters, and also side - 'salad' type recipes which i think is cheating to say all are curries, but on whole a good book, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent all rounder 7 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
I am not a huge curry lover but my other half is so I was pleased to get my hands on this book, hoping to find something that I could handle as a beginner. I am very pleased with it, the content is excellent. The photographs are really large and everything looks very appetising. The recipes are not difficult at all and are easy to understand, using ingredients that you could pick up in a supermarket. I was especially keen to see how to make starters and side dishes like naan bread for example, things which I would normally buy ready made in a packet. Overall, this is a great book and I plan to look into the rest of the Hamlyn Colour series too.
