This new reissue by The Chico Hamilton Quintet is from a Warner Bros. LP (1245) from 1959. The featured musicians are: Chico Hamilton (drums and percussion), Eric Dolphy (reeds), Nat Gershman (cello), Dennis Budimer (guitar), Wyatt Ruther (bass) with Fred Katz as conductor of the strings. A fun and not too "far out" album of interesting music with arrangements of some standards with a healthy mix of new material. This album has some really lovely moments and is a valuable addition to the Eric Dolphy discography. Get it while you can!
