5.0 out of 5 stars hamilton: in the interest of the nation 7 July 2013
By frank
this is brilliant, what a brilliant actor, I am trying to find out if his other movies are English, it is mostly English, only some parts are sub titles, it is full of action, and does not go over the top, like lots other action movies, it is quite believable, he has made 3 of these, I highly recommend them to everyone, they put James Bond miles behind, and I am English,

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Surprising! 14 Jan 2014
By Mr. S. Storey TOP 500 REVIEWER
This is pretty much the Swedish version of Bond/Bourne and as such it stands up very will as an action adventure. The sets and locations are varied and the plot involving dodgy arms deals and terrorism is familiar but still interesting. Presbrandt makes for an engaging hero, his scripting is darker than Bond's and doesn't include any wry humour. The action is spot on, there are some really good fights and a couple of rather gory knife slashes! I'm looking forward to seeing the others.

5.0 out of 5 stars The new Jack Reacher 3 Sep 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Don't I wish Mikael Persbrandt could be the new Jack Reacher , instead of you know who ! This is a very entertaining movie and Persbrandt makes for a great hero in the 'Bond ' tradition. I loved him in 'Beck'. He has a dangerous edge, yet manages to bring some vulnerability to his role . Watch and enjoy.I'm looking forward to the other 2 in this trilogy , 'In Her Majesty's Service " and " Not if it concerns My Daughter"

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent thriller / action movie from Sweden 26 July 2013
Agent Hamilton is a fairly refreshing non-Hollywood take on a spy/action thriller. In this first installement he is battling a private military firm that is trying to stir up war to in essence sell its services, and which is using Swedish military material in doing so.

The action is largely spread between Sweden, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Somalia and Lebanon (with a lot of help by the PLO, funnily enough) and is not of the huge explosion over the top type but rather kept fairly believable, if frequent. In that aspect the movie is much more in the vein of Heat [DVD] [1995] than The Expendables [DVD].

The protagonist - Agent Hamilton of Swedish Intelligence - is also a somewhat divided and definitely not a one dimensional character, with plenty of 'dark sides' to his persona.

Overall, if you are a fan of the more believable end of action movies, this is definitely worthwhile sampling. And if you like it, there is always Hamilton: But Not If It Concerns Your Daughter Blu-Ray as a follow-on.
