The shredder houses one compartment at the back for important paper documents which once shredded fall into the 1.6 litre basket until they are disposed of in the bin. At the front is a section for destroying any CDs which may have confidential information on them, in addition is a section for destroying plastic cards eliminating the inconvenient task of cutting up any inactive cards by hand.

The quality is good, this cross-cut shredder works fine. It makes you realize a lot of the domestic electrical appliances we have grown accustomed to, can actually work just equally well operated manually.

I wanted this hand operated shredder after several electrical ones broke down. Most electrical ones I have used can only handle a very limited amount of shredding before they have to be left to cool down. Also you have all the fuss of having to set them up, plug them in etc so I tend to leave my shredding until I have collected too many papers. This shredder is small, can always be kept handy, and works without effort. It cross-cuts too, so is more secure than the ones which just cut strips. Well made and solid. An excellent product.

Everything is plastic even the teeth. I use the shredder mainly to chop up debit card receipts after I've checked them off with my personal finance program. I can put two in at a time without forcing the handle. Decided on manual after two electrical ones burnt out in quick succession. Its also very quiet, so you don't disturb anyone whilst shredding. The handle is quite decent as well. Should last a lot longer providing I don't go above shredding the recommended two at a time.
