The Hama Lightbox with a generous viewing area of 15 x 24.5cm allows you to easily view photographic film or slides and is perfect for all levels of photographer. The lightbox can be used on a table and has tilting brackets to make viewing more comfortable, or it can be mounted on the wall. This versatile lightbox is suitable for all size of studio or in the home and is a great photo accessory. This is perfect for checking large quantities of film or slides whilst also being able to remain in a comfortable position whilst doing so, and perfectly illuminate your images. The lightbox is powered by 6 type C batteries however a mains adapter (No. 046591) can be purchased if you are to use the lightbox for long periods of time.
Product Description
This light box is made from black plastic, with a translucent glass cover, black metal handle, fluorescent lamp and stand. It also has a film strip for wall mounting. The translucent glass cover produces an excellent diffuse light effect, which is kind to the eyes and provides uniform illumination of the whole assembly surface. The light box can be used for a wide range of transillumination applications, e.g. for layout production, printed circuits, etc.

I wanted a method of backlighting microforms to allow me to take a digital image. I had tried constructing my own device with some success but the resulting equipment was fragile and the images produced of inconsistent quality.
The Hama provides a consistent lightsource over the whole area of the panel. The resulting images are as clear as I require. I believe the unit would be entirly suitable for reproducing transparencies and negatives.

First class product for which I would have gladly given a 5 star rating had it come supplied with a mains adapter. Excellent cool light and no worries about overheating when used for long periods

It's fine except I did not realise that it requires batteries. In my case I bought a mains lead, which is fine.

First find a replacement bulb
After about two hours use, the florescent bulb died. Thus far I have been unable to find a suitable replacement and I am back to holding my negatives up to the table lamp. Read more
