Product Description

Product Description

For connecting a camera with hot-shoe contact to a flash unit with cable contact ,Height: 19 mm ,Weight: 9 g

Manufacturer's Description

This tiny device is one of those gizmos that, once you have it, you wonder how you managed for years without one. It simply converts a camera with a hot shoe only flash contact to one that has a PC cable flash sync socket, thus opening up a host of options for new lighting techniques. Simply slide this little Hama hot shoe adapter into a standard hot shoe, plug in your flash gun cable and you are ready to start shooting.

This now means that you can connect multiple flashguns via this adapter and a flash splitter to allow up to 3 guns to be triggered simultaneously. You can also now make use of the studio lighting at your local camera club, simply by plugging the flash cable into the socket on the adapter. You can even add a bounce shoe adapter and connect its cable to the socket, allowing you to create new lighting effects.

Long distance flash triggering is now by connecting up to a 10m extension cable between the flash gun and the camera. This opens up a whole new way of working with flash on a hot shoe only camera and should find a corner in loads of gadget bags.

This proven design (I bought mine in 1989) simply connects a hot shoe-only camera such as many modern dSLRs and older consumer-grade SLRs to flash units that require sync cables, such as Metz 45 or studio strobes. It doesn't communicate any TTL or other information (which would be redundant, as sync cables can't transmit it), and is almost completely indestructible. You can also mount a camera-top flash on top and the signal goes both to the hot-shoe and the sync cable.

The only caveat is that it may be a tiny bit loose on some hotshoes, as it has been designed to fit all hotshoes with a tiny bit of tolerance. Mine used to slide off the Olympus OM10, but was firm on the Olympus OM1 (though the OM1 actually had it's own sync socket).

Great product, I purchased an Interfit lighting kit (which uses pc-sync leads) but my camera (Canon 350D) doesn't have a PC-Sync socket so this product allows me to trigger the lights when the shutter fires. Simple but effective and much cheaper than an infra-red or wireless trigger. Recommended.

Most DSLR's do not have a separate socket for a PC lead (sadly), so we have to use an adapter for the hot shoe when using studio lights. The camera manufacturers charge £22 or more, so this little beaut, at less than £[..], is great. Yes it works just fine. Two of us in our camera club are using this adapter.

This Hotshoe adapter, is a life saver!
Since Nikon decided they weren't going to put a port for the studio lights, or a wire to connect to light meters, this has saved the day! I can now use my light meter and studio lights with ease! Just slots into the top of your hotshoe, (where the flash usually sits) and syncs up with wires no problem!
Definately a must-have for any Nikon camera user!

Bought one of these locally to use with an Interfit lighting set. It failed to fire from either my Nikon D90 or my daughter's D80. Tried at all settings but to no avail. Returned to shop.

I am currently studying photography at college and a hot shoe adapter is required for studio work. I have been using it since it arrived with great success. It's good value too.

I needed to know if this item would be compatible with my Canon 550d camera. I also needed to know what previous buyers thought of it before buying it. I was really pleased when the item arrived on time and undamaged. It fitted my camera perfectly. I bought this to use in my camera club when I required a sync flash with thw clubs equipment. I was really satisfied that it did the job that it was intended for.
