5.0 out of 5 stars Alternative Use for the Hama Monopod 28 Feb 2010
I have been looking for a device to use as a camera stabiliser for my Canon 5D Mk2 when making videos. There are lots of products ranging from £80 - £300 available on the market. As I didn't want to spend that sort of money (especially when the reviews weren't great!), I decided to try the Hama Walking Stick Monopod. At the price it didn't matter if it was a failure.
To my surprise and delight it worked perfectly!! With 2 hand holds, the walking stick arm providing the additional hold, and the leg resting on my shoulder, I could achieve exactly what I wanted. The end result is a video with no camera shake and no spurious jolts, even when following my subject by walking backward.
For the price and the results, this little device is a gem. Of course, I can also use it as a Monopod which is a bonus for me!!
Don't spend a fortune on expensive stabilisers, get one of these instead - it's brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lighter than a tripod 5 Nov 2009
I needed a walking stick to support me, but always had to put it down for filming. This is the best of both worlds - walk, film and walk some more. With a light camera you can leave it on the support. Heavier cameras will need to be removed. Folds down like normal hiking sticks.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent, Mostly 28 Aug 2010
By bazbo
I found this product to be everything I needed. At 6' and 16 stone I'm not delicate but I found that as a walking stick it is more than adequate. As a monopod it it does everything required of it and is easy to adjust for height. The grip and handle are both comfortable. So far so good. The compass fitted onto the camera mount? No !!!! It will get you killed the one I received North was actually pointing South. When you're 3 miles out on a sandbank and a sea mist comes in, well I'm sure you get the message. Otherwise an excellent product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This did everything I bought it for, and did it well. One tiny criticism is that the spike pushed through the rubber ferrule after a few days, other that, perfect!
