I wanted a remotd shutter control for use with my Nikon D90 but Nikon's products only seemed to operate with the control forward of the camera. This obviously is quite unsuitable for very many situation, especially wildlife shots, so I had to look at other options. The Hama seemed ideal, the reviews were very good and the price seemed very reasonable for what was claimed for the product. Although having to came from Germany, delivery was fast enough using the free delivery option, five days in fact.
The connector on the receiver plugged into the GPS socket on the D90 and was held very firmly so no fear of its coming loose. Using it, first, at close range, I found focussing and shutter operation speeds to be instantaneous and further experimenting showed me that I had made a good choice. I placed the camera in my back bedroom, facing towards the window and operated transmitter from the front bedroom. The two rooms have a stairway between them which meant the signal had to pass through two brick walls. No problem at all. Operating the the tiny transmitter from the other side street and with the camera downstairs - perfect. Whether the transmitter is held in front, at the side or behind the camere it never fails. Operating range is claimed to be ninety feet though I haven't yet tested this.
For a rapid succession of shots, simply hold down the button. For timed exposures at night or in very dim light, set the camera to manual and hold down the button for the desired length of time. Simples!
Wholeheartedly recommended, and for the money, a bargain.
